My wife and son both have broncos. Numerous times I have gone into our garage late at night or in the morning to find headlights on. They are apparently hitting the knob with their knees as they exit. Anyone else having this issue?

Yes. Tall driver here as well if that matters. Occassionally, when exiting the vehicle my knee will brush the headlight knob. However it starts to chime when it happens, so I am able to catch it and turn them back to auto.

Yes, Ford design flaw. I just check the knob every time I exit the Bronc. Just added to the to-do-list after I park it, turn off the ignition, put in second gear, pull up the e-brake, etc. You get the picture. Some define me as anal, or whatever disorder term is currently used to describe this behavior by the medical community today. I define it as normal which use to mean responsible back in the day. All the time! I'm a 5'7" female, so I have to sit really close to the dash to engage the clutch all the way. Hit the damn switch all the time.

I hit it occasionally, too. It's not uncommon.

Happens occasionally, but I think the bigger question is, your wife and son DON'T realize it when they exit the vehicle and just turn it back to auto or off? I know on the few times I've smacked my knee into it, it stung enough for me to check the dial to see if it spun. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Turning them "OFF" numerous times from the Auto setting. This is the only vehicle I've ever had this happen with.

Yup my wife does it in our F150 as well. I turned the chimes off on the Bronco, but I drive it most of the time, so I just pay attention when I get out.

I don’t think it has anything to do with height, necessarily. My wife has longer legs than me and she never hits it. I think it’s just more to do with how your anatomy is shaped, and how you move. I’ve tried to reproduce my movements slowly to see exactly how I’m managing to hit the knob, and I can see how it happens. I have to be very deliberate in my movement to not hit the thing. If I just jump out casually, I often hit it.

It’s kinda like the headrest thing. So many of us with non-leather, non-adjustable headrests can’t stand how far forward it pushes your head, while others can’t understand why it’s a problem, because they never even notice it.

When I climb into my F-150, I have to duck my head so I don’t hit the top of the window header, even though I’m only 6’ tall. I’m quite certain there are taller guys than me who can jump into the same truck without a problem. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø
