I call BS, in NJ which a front plate state and I asked them not to when I picked her up 2 weeks ago and they didn’t. No Way ford would take the time to do that when not all states require it IMO.
One step further NJ has taken it, one can’t get pulled solely over for it either. You still can get a ticket for it but not the reason for getting pulled over.

I'm sure many dealers in front plate states just install them as part of the delivery process, and it can be tough for them to let service know that a particular vehicle doesn't get the front plate. But to lie about it is just wrong, admit the mistake and offer a small comp and move on.

What really drives me nuts is dealers that drill the bumper for front plates in states that don't require them, just so they can put a dealer advertisement plate on their cars. Saw this many times in FL, and I would never shop at those dealers because they obviously didn't care about the cars they sold. ;)

Everyone here is right. Ford does not mount the brackets. The dealerships are only required to provide them. Your dealer ignored your wishes then blamed his incompetence on ford.

According to my dealer here in New York, front license plate brackets are now coming installed straight from the factory. Anyone else hear the same that took delivery in the last few days?

I picked up mine yesterday and despite multiple reminders to not install the front license bracket this is how she was delivered. Dealer says that’s how it rolled off the transport truck.

Untrue.

I have never seen so much agreement in one thread ever. Dealer lies are the ties that bind.

Now, can we get back to arguing? There’s got to be a 2-door vs 4-door angle someone can take here …

California also requires a front plate. Mine did NOT come with the bracket installed.
I told my dealer not to install it and they shockingly actually listened to me.
Anyway your dealer is lying. They just don't want to have to pay for a new body panel.
Same, I didn't even have to ask them to not install, they told me it shouldn't be an issue unless I was driving a lot in San Francisco. I always use my city mini for SF and no problems to date in Marin or East Bay, Tahoe etc,...

Just pop the plate on and no ticket, take it off as soon as they leave.
Works for me every time.
Awesome share!
I guess this means, you always have the plate stowed in the truck with you while driving....
I would worry about the brackets/ plate scratching up the interior. Where/how do you store the plate in your rig?

Hey guys,
I have always been under the impression that if a feature didn't come on the vehicle from the factory you were not required to have it.

Case in point was a 1955 Dodge pickup I owned outta high school. It came with one tail light and no seat belts.

I got a ticket in an equipment check and went to court over the fix it ticket. The judge threw it out after saying, and I quote, "idiot cops don't know the vehicle code". This was in the early 70's.

So, is that still the case?

I have one of these and it protects against sharp edges damaging anything. I just keep mine under the passenger seat.

Front license plates seem to fit better with the look of 4 doors.
There, that better?
:)

Sucks where they mounted yours. Dealer her in CA didn't install mine... even though its required. I went online (Amazon) and got one that attaches to the standard holes on the modular bumper. I didn't like the idea of drilling new holes anywhere. Thats what I'd do if you feel you need to cooperate with the law.
