Took a 10-day overlanding trip, MN-SD-CO-UT-CA-AZ-MN. First camp Custer State Park in SD, herding goats. Stopped at the Badlands. Pretty windy drive across SD.
Headed south through WY into CO, to Carbondale, CO. Rained the whole way. Setup camp in the sprinkles. Next day set out across UT and NV, camping in Wendover, NV. Meeting up with my cousin in Markleeville, CA, in Toiyabe National Forest. Such a brutal drive, against the wind the whole way. Joined the cracked windshield group in Salt Lake City. Stopped at the Bonneville Salt Flats. That salt sticks to your car worse than snow.
Camped in Toiyabe National Forest in CA just south of Lake Tahoe, my cousin with his '22 Defender, and his great danes.
It was too dang windy to set up tents, so my attempt at sleeping in the back of my 2-door. I'm only 5'7" so diagonally worked. Had to have my cooler inside, just a couple nights ago my cousin had a black bear trying to get into his fridge.
Nice scenery the next day, heading towards Death Valley.
We wanted to head through Death Valley but the wind was so bad there was a constant dust storm, we decided to turn back.
Ended up finding a last minute campground just outside of Kingman, AZ for our last night. Phoenix was my destination, picked up my mom and headed back to MN.
Met up with a friend in Phoenix and his '23 Base-Squatch.
Bronco made the trip fun. Those that know of the 7mt scraping/grinding issue, mine got worse on my way back to MN. Typically I heard the scraping only during the winter months. Now I could hear it in the AZ heat. Now that I'm back in MN I haven't heard it at all. About a 4k mile trip, now have almost 29k on my Bronco. Gonna discuss my repair options with the dealer this week.
Can't wait to do another trip.
