Ha - funny I just ordered one. I was worried about the straps going over the rollbar and obstructing the window going all the way up or stressing. I just tested with a strap to see if it would be a problem. Looks like it won't be an issue.
I haven't gotten mine yet - but yes I got it for the pop-up rain showers. It looks like it will work for that.
I also wanted to see if I can folder the front straps over a bit and see if I can fit them in the hardtops channel to see if that gap can be closed up. I was considering making something that fits in that channel to keep the top tight in there and avoid it slipping out. If I figure it out - I'll post pictures.
Cool. Keep us posted and thanks!

Cool. Keep us posted and thanks!

The eBay top came - the material is really good and thick. I broke a buckle but was able to jury-rig it with a zip tie. The back of it comes down too far like in the picture and there is a gap at the front of course. I figured this can be cut shorter and sewn on a machine easily.

Flapping is not too much nor too loud. The material does rise up a little in the middle but not too much. I am working on making a header bar for the front and seeing if we can bolt it down the hardtop brackets and have no gap.

But more of a concern is that those velcro straps that hold the top to the rollbar, cover the side airbag escape door.

I wish someone could make a bar for the windshield that the top can slip into like the old Jeep bikini tops. It could even bolt to the accessory bolts on the front or within the current head channel. Then to avoid Velcro straps on the side, there is plenty of room to bolt another bar that the top could slide into.

Thanks for update and great point about the velcro and airbags. Hmm. Wonder what would happen if the bags activated.

The best top Trektop with the sides out it’s pretty great. If I lived in a better climate, I’d roll like that most of the time.

For people that like keeping the top off, this is a problem.

With older Jeeps, I could take the soft top and unsnap/unseal/unzip and pull it off and throw it in the garage in about 30 seconds and take off. Then put it back on when I needed to. Now you have to spend more time screwing around with windows, etc and for people that take top off all the time it becomes a pain. Then with he 2D you have the high accordion parachute look, and a paint every year when you switch back anf forth to the MIC.

For now, here is what I am doing

Sun - MIc and doors off
Clouds with possible rain - Doors on. windows down, with front MIC pieces in the back. Rory Synder has this look going in Jaws
Rain - Front MIC pieces on and doors on

I am probably going to hoist the MIC in the garage so I can throw it on faster when needed for when it is raining

I really wish I could get any type of bikini that sealed in the front and was wide to the rollbar. I know it might need to wrap around the rollbars with longer straps so it could cross to hitch to the opposite rollbar, or connect to some hook where the MIC screws are located, or even come around the B pillar, and tie in the front grab handles. Basically, anything that could be kept under a seat, but still get me by when I am stuck at a stop light and it is raining pretty hard. I would pay good money for anything that is nice, but still waiting as well

The airbag will pop the straps loose in milliseconds and deploy as designed.

I just bought this to try some things as well. Pretty cheap so no worries if it's a throw-away.
Any further modification success from you yet?

No more mods. I went ahead and gave up and got the Rampage top. Without windows it is a bikini top and if it starts to rain the windows are carried in the top it self, so they can be quickly installed. Pretty good solution. My next mod is to make a wind Jammer for the Rampage top. A little more pricy, but exactly what I wanted. I paid around $850 for it. Looks for sales from cjpony

How easy is the Rampage top to completely remove? Does it take long? I may go that route myself. Thanks
