I joined several message boards since i bought my badlands in January. For me this was a walk-in purchase so i didn't know much about the different trims, or the ordering process. Nowadays, on several bronco online forums, i notice that most new bronco purchases are outer banks. Just wondering what makes this trim so popular?
I think it's a couple factors - dealers ordered them for their lots and got a lot of inventory of them because they didn't have as many constraints as some of the higher trim models like Wildtrack and Badlands... PLUS - the Outer Banks does have the best looking interior option with the Roast Leather interior, which is absolutely stunning.

My wife had ordered a OB 2 door, non SAS, it would have been a mall crawler for sure, she also had the hard top and lux. Ford sent the letter wanting her to change the options, so she decided and luvs he 23 Bronco Heritage Limited.

I actually believe it's the better choice for her, and I am glad she got something she loves and did not settle. I myself, well I have a Badlands, with the Lux, and I love it. Love my orange outlines and leather interior with the Oxford white. It has all of the amenities my F150 2019 Harley had, so I'm good.

Not quite, it is actually the Badlands trim level that gets you the discount at Starbucks. The only caveat is that in order to qualify for the discount you must demonstrate the sway bar disconnect as you pull up on the curb. And, are you ready for this, if you also have the sasquatch package on your Badlands you get double the discount! :ROFLMAO:

I have a 22’ OBX with Roast interior, and I’ll agree with what others have said, the interior is very appealing. I drove an hour away and bought mine off the lot, it was the only one near me I could find for MSRP. With that being said, I love the vehicle and the trim. I’m getting ready to get the rims changed to badlands takeoffs, but other than that, I haven’t really disliked anything about the trim. I guess if I had to pick anything, I would have done the grille in more of a matte or satin that a gloss.

I did add the wildtrak gloss back horse on the back to kind of tie it in, and I’ll also more than likely have gloss black wheels as well. I have silver, which wasn’t my first choice, but all the cactus gray around me were either sold already or overpriced. If I had my choice, I really don’t think I would have went with another model. It’s a great medium between price and options.

Not sure why most of the trims would be purchased. I think Ford has too many trim levels on the Bronco, and surely production teams can't like that!
I get base trim for those that just want a cheap Bronco, and top-of-the-line Wildtrak for those that want the most capable.
That would've been great. Offer 2 trims. First trim is Base but offer every package/accessory a la carte. That way you can get everything you want and nothing you'd never use. Second trim is fully loaded wildtrak. Would save money instead of adding everything a la carte. It would be a logistics and production nightmare for Ford though, too many unique custom orders

Non-Sasquatch OBX... Too pedestrian.

So pedestrian...
What you have basically looks like a sasquatch outer banks though with the bigger wheels and tires. I believe this is what the original commenter was referring to by a non-sasquatch outer banks looking "pedestrian". Imo it looks like a school bus lol 🤢

What I find funny is any Sasquatch Bronco with the exception of Badlands, First Edition (front sway bar disconnect) and Raptor are all completely equal when it comes to capabilities, yet the OBX gets all the hate.
This…

Unlike a Jeep, you don’t have to buy the Rubicon to get front and rear lockers. The Sasquatch package is a beautiful thing. Hell, even just a rear locker and some decent treads and a small lift will get you a very capable rig.

I guess it all depends on how you define popular. All in the eye of the beholder.

This is from the 2023 spreadsheets for those that filled them out.

Just most online posts of people getting their new bronco seem to be outer banks, is all.

Actually speaking of it, a non SAS OBX w/optional locker is more capable than a non SAS Base come to think of it.

I don't get the hate, we're all here for the love of the Bronco. I love all trims, colors, tops, and door counts. These are awesome vehicles that we all choose for our own personal reasons.

"Can't we all just get along"
No hate. Just was wondering is all. For instance, i had no idea about the roast leather seats and i hadn't noticed that they come with painted mirrors and handles. That said, I'm happy with the vinyl seats (everyone thinks they're leather when they see mine), washout floor and rugged look of the badlands.

I have an OBX on order. I think the best trim is BD but I wanted the High package. Perhaps the popularity of the OBX is that it is the most road oriented, and if we are being honest 80+% of the people on this forum (and probably 90% of Bronco buyers) only really "need" a Subaru Forester for their intended use. Enjoy life, spend your hard-earned money how you want.

The hate comment wasn't directed at anyone in this thread, it's a real generalization though throughout this site and all the FB groups.

It’s the first trim with a 12” screen and Lux pkg as an option and you can get the adv 4wd. The roast leather interior is far and away the best looking interior, puts the Wildtrack to shame. You either like the painted flares and mirrors or not. Will say I’m not a huge fan of the 18” wheels but those are easily changed. I added a rear locker to mine so it’s capable enough for me and I still came out $3500 less than a Badlands, which is the only other trim I considered but I doubt I would use a front locker very often. Gotta chuckle at all of the SAS and highly capable trimmed Broncos out there. Talk about mall crawler/pavement princesses, most will never see a trail and the toughest hill they will climb will be in the parking garage. Oh well, to each their own, spend your money however you want.
I thought the same when i got my badlands, but as i learned more about the off road capabilities and attended off rodeo, it inspired me to hit some trails. Even took some of the fellow neighborhood dad's (a jeep and 4x4 tundra) who had never been off-roading out with me this last time.

Couldn’t agree more though. Imagine buying a badlands because you like the tires 😂
I bought a badlands because it was the only bronco on the lot. Admittedly, i knew nothing about the different trims at the time. I had a feeling the badlands was more than i needed. Just wanted an SUV to take the family outdoors. But the deal i was offered was too good to pass up (basically they offered me way more for my trade in to get the amount finances down to where I needed it). But now that i have it, i make use of it whenever possible. Love going offroad when time permits. Loving this new hobby.

OBX SAS for the win! I chose it for the painted mirrors, painted handles, gloss black grille, 12” screen, and roast leather. It’s a super slick daily driver and yes I also off-road at least once a month.

I wish there was a option of no carpet flooring for any trim.

Not sure if your "data" is very accurate. But in our group buy down here in TX it is one of the least popular for MY23 (as well as 22 and 21). Sample size is about 100. Heck, we got more BRaptors than OBX's.

I ordered a Loaded OBX-Squatch for my wife as she didn't need the disco or washout interior of the BL or the Hoss3.0 of the WT. Plus she likes the roast leather option. I am sure many other OBX buyers bought for the same reason.
Glad you posted this. Comical to think the OBX is the popular trim.
