The company did get back to me fairly quickly and said they’re working with the manufacturer of the boxes to make a heavier duty box and they will send me one once they have them produced.

After assembling here’s my impression:

The unit is solid and the operation appears to be pretty simple. Setting it up for the Bronco will be easy and adjusting it for my daughter’s JKU will be easy as well.

I’m missing a pin for the leg and a set screw for the forward arm, which is a bit frustrating. I contacted them about this as well and I’m waiting for a response.

As far as it being marketed as portable, that’s a big stretch. You need to just about fully disassemble the thing to get it to fit in the travel boxes. It’s not a quick/simple process to just whip out of the back of the Bronco, put a couple of pins in, and start lifting the top off. It’s just not reasonable to expect to travel with this thing, hop out and have the top off in 5 minutes. It can probably be modified with quick release pins replacing the bolts but that was not something I was expecting to have to do after spending $900. I didn’t buy it intending to travel with it but I did plan to keep it in its storage boxes in the off-season.

I do intend to break it down in the off-season but I was expecting a much faster process to do that. Not a huge deal I guess, just kind of shady marketing. The footprint can be fairly small and I like the pedal lift vs the lift bar.

I’ll probably use it to remove my top when it’s nicer next week and see how the actual use goes.

Would appreciate pictures when you use it. They mentioned that the rear glass was not able to be closed when on lift.

Do you think the original version would be a better purschase?

Depends on your needs. For me, I’ll be sharing use with my daughter. She’s short and I think the pedal will be easier for her to use vs the pull down bar on the original.

I have no experience with the original so I can’t compare the two.

Initial Review:
For anyone curious, I finally finished assembling mine, and used it for the first time last week:

1. Assembly: The instructions were not the easiest to follow. FortunateIy, the company is very helpful, answered the phone right away and immediately transferred me to someone who walked me through my questions, and also pointed me to an online video for assembling the base. They said they are working on a video for assembling the upper part, but candidly that part was more straight forward and the paper instructions were sufficient. In short, once I found the base assembly video then the overall process wasn't too bad.

2. Operations: The unit did not come with operation instructions. But again, the company immediately answered my call and connected me with someone who very patiently talked me through things. They said a video has been made but that it's not yet available. Regardless, their verbal instructions were very helpful and what I needed to do was semi-obvious.

3. Real-world use to remove the top: I have only used it once so far due to the weather. But using it was simple. One person can easily remove the top with this unit. The foot-pedal design provided effortless leverage to lift the top off and then roll it back from the vehicle. I am pretty sure my wife could lift the top off with this if I weren't around (and if I let her drive MY BRONCO). After removing the top, I left it sitting on the unit for the day while I was away enjoying the topless experience. BTW, I had already previously installed Rockworkx thumbscrews, and they are great. It made removing the top even faster/easier. I know they are not cheap, but they are great quality and worth it.

4. Real-world use replacing the top: Again, was relatively simple. It took me a little effort to wheel the unit over the vehicle so that the pins on the top perfectly fit into the base on the rear of the Bronco, but it wasn't horrible. Again, easy enough to do alone, although it would have been easier with one person to help me guide the pins in.... This would be the same no matter how the top is removed/replaced, so no issues with the lift device here.

5. Overall impressions: I like it. Again, simple to use although better instructions and/or videos for full assembly and use are needed. There were a few hiccups: The "storage boxes" that can with is were damaged when shipped. Not the company's fault, but my experience is the same as what someone above posted. Also, the storage boxes are not really for storage, as disassembling the unit and placing in the boxes is not a realistic daily option (but I guess it could be done seasonally). There were a few pins that were not functioning ideally. Again, the support people were extremely accommodating, and said they would mail replacements immediately. This did not prevent me from using the unit, but did cause me to have to improvise a little.

6. Unit storage: Since I plan (hope) to be able to remove/replace the top frequently depending on weather, I will leave the unit assembled. The four legs are on casters and can fold in, making the footprint of the unit somewhat smaller. I find I can fit the unit into storage space that I have if I fold two of the four legs in. However, in doing so the unit pitches forward since it become off balance. If the company is thinking about improvements/modifications, a fifth caster, attached to the front of the center bar where the four legs attach, would really help in balancing the unit (for storage only) while two legs are folded in. I will try to figure out some sort of interim solution, since I need to fold two of the four legs in order to store the unit.

7. Conclusion: I am happy. Some hiccups, a need for more (and better) instructions, but nothing insurmountable. The product itself worked great. I know they also sell the TopLift Pro, but I needed something that offered the ability to easily compress into a smaller footprint when it's not being used, and the Venture Pro solved that for me. Sorry I don't have any real-world use pictures. I wanted to get out and enjoy the fresh, so I completely forgot to take photos.

Hope this is helpful to anyone thinking about this device.

I modified mine to allow storage of the two front panels.

Instructions not the easiest to follow; video was helpful.

My experience with their customer service was similar. I was missing a pin and they got it to me really quickly. They called and verified exactly what I needed and shipped it out the next day.

I made a run at locating some quick release pins to make assembly and disassembly faster but nothing I could find fit good enough for me to feel comfortable using it.

Can you share the link to the video about how to install the base?

Just to follow up on this topic, the Venture Pro lift is working well for me. I'm able to quickly break it down into something small enough to store when not in use, and can maneuver it so that Bronco can fit in garage with top over hood. If I moved all the junk behind the lift I would have more clearance behind the Bronco, but wanted to test it out first to make sure.
