I'm looking at some Fuel Block wheels to put onto my Base bronco. Going to pair them with some 285/70/r17 tires.

Fuel offers two offsets for this setup: 1mm or -12mm

I'm hoping for some poke past the standard flares, but it's been a bit hard finding comparative photos for these two setups. Any thoughts on which one I should spring for?

Is it 12mm or -12mm, you've called it out both ways?

285 seems really narrow for a 9in wide rim.

Sasquatch is 315 on 8.5in for reference.

What look are you going for?

I’ve attached some pics of my wheel setup. Running American Racing AR172s that are 17x8 at 0 offset. Tires are KO2s at 295/70R17. Rims are a little more narrow than yours but tires a bit wider. The first picture is after I put them on with standard flares, the second picture is after I put on Sasquatch flares after trading someone. 1mm offset will poke for sure beyond stock flares.

Again, why 285 on 9s? Are you sure that’s the look you want?

Also you are going to stick way out past stock flares. And past Sasquatch flares too.

These are the 315s on 8.5 with 0 offset. And Squatch flares.

Here is a 285/75/18 on a 18x9 wheel at +12 offset. Sasquatch Flares included. The outside bulge of the tire is even with the outside edge of the Flare.

With a -12 Offset and a Standard Flare the tire will stick out about 2 inches beyond the Flare.

I'm not stuck on 285/70 as a width if that's not optimal, it's what I've seen commonly used on 17x9 wheels in some other forums and posts.
What would you recommend? I definitely want 33"s, not 35"s

Here's another set of 285/70r17 tires on 17x9 wheels. Pardon my ignorance, but it looks fine to me... https://www.ebay.com/itm/373750009580

I would say the +1 would be enough but you may want to do some measuring.

The 17x9 +1 is going to sit just over 3-inches further out when compared to where the factory wheel sits now. If you measure from the front lip of the factor wheel outwards 3-inches, this will be the point of where the front lip of the 17x9 +1 sits (not including the tire). The -12 will be just over 3 1/2-inches outwards.

Thanks for the reply!

As for tire size on a 17x9 wheel, is 285/70/r17 wide enough? What would you recommend (33")

Happy to help!

Most tire manufacturers have a suggested rim width of 7.5-inches to 9.5-inches, so the 9-inch width is certainly fine.

A couple of points to consider with tire to rim width is that a tire that's mounted on the narrower end of the rim width range may give up some handling but will tend to deliver a cushier ride because the sidewall has a little more flex. Whereas a tire that's mounted on the wider rim width range tends to handle and respond better to steering input, but may give up some ride quality due to less sidewall flex.

-12mm will be way too much poke beyond your stock fender flares, assuming its non-sas? 1mm should be about perfect IMO

I think you want to go with the +1 offset. You may want to look at 305/65/17 tires which are around 33" and would fit the 17x9 wheels a little better. I ran them on my old Tacoma.
