So I modded my sound system a few months ago and got 4 inch Focals and 6 inch Kickers. I also have added a Kicker Key 200.4 AMP.

I recently swapped out my DASH Focals for Hertz. It's a VERY impressive difference in sound. Cleaner, louder, tighter, more details and much better imaging. I highly recommend looking into the Hertz speakers. Just thought I'd share :)

3/13/24 NOTE: Totally forgot that I added Bass Blockers as well to the FRONTS. It helped adjust the "bass" tuning - 600hz bass blockers (https://a.co/d/7OEldiP).

Did you use bass blockers and is your amp direct wired to the battery?

I went with Focal Hertz CX100 in the front corners of my B&O. Liked them more than the DCX on Crutchfields listen and compare feature. Massive upgrade over stock. Sadly going to the 6.5” CX165 in the rear was not nearly as impressive of an upgrade. Ended up swapping them for component K 165, which were better—but still nowhere near the impact the front swap made.

I've heard great things about Hertz... Focal is good quality just very bright with the metal tweeters

Yes I have 600HZ bass blockers ONLY for the dash speakers. and my amp is not direct wired, but I got a custom harness from plugnplay.com. no splicing, no cutting, literally plug and play :)

Try the 300hz. Much better IMO.

I have a pair of those that I bought from Crutchfield (open box) in anticipation of a build date that has yet to come.

Just trying to make sure - you are saying you have these Hertz speakers installed AND you have found the 300-600Hz range is noticeable (or that its absence with the 600Hz blockers was)? Unusual for a 4" sized speaker but not impossible, good info, thanks!

I initially had the 150HZ / 300HZ ones and that wasn't enough. The 600HZ ones are perfect. just gives the right amount of sound for that little 4 incher. Previously there was way too much bass and it muddied the sound

Perhaps I spoke out of turn - but, I had quite the opposite experience with my Infinity Ref. I had been running 600hz since Aug 2021 and just switched to 300hz and it’s light years better.

I've never heard of that brand. How is bass output with these? I understand that 4" won't get me much low end but I want the most possible lol. I also will have the key 200.4.

Better BASS output for sure and the difference when I moved to it from the Focals is very noticeable. Great improvement

That's what I would have thought - was having a hard time figuring out how somebody was getting *bigger* sound out of a 4"; I mean it's all pretty much subjective so what one set of ears hears is different than another's - and mine are pretty well hard against that "best used by " date! - but I think I'll stick with your config and go with the 300Hz blockers. Thanks.

Well....because the sound is not "muddied" and the 600HZ are doing a great job, I am getting BIGGER sound from the 4 inch. Clearer and better. I have NO SUB. so I rely on my 6 speakers to balance out (for now). I will be adding a sub in the future and I will for sure have better acoustics with that

What speaker are you using for the center channel? I just ordered a pair of Hertz DCX 100.3 to replace my JL C1-400x left and right dash speakers but not sure if I should replace the center ones (JL C1-400x as well with 300Hz bass blockers)
