Update - After careful consideration and the expert analysis from this forum I'm putting it back like it was and just removing the plate for each oil change, it was a dumb idea, I admit it.

Couldn’t you use a drain plug with a hose? That’s what I did

It takes about 5 minutes maybe to remove. I just can't see cutting a hole in a skid plate to save 5 minutes.

Right? My Dewalt cordless impact takes that bash plate off in no time. Takes way more time to drink a beer and let all the oil drain that anything else. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah. This one's not for me.

How many beers did you have before you thought that was a good idea haha. But like someone mentioned, it takes 5-10 mins at most to remove.

Yeah, these days everyone has a cordless and it just takes very little time when you factor in how often you actually do it. I guess on a vehicle that would never see off road use it would be fine, but it just doesn't make much sense on the factory skid that is so easy to remove. I guess I could see it on the one piece bash/skid plates that replace the factory system, but then again, if you have the one piece replacement, you're probably using them and it wouldn't make any sense, So I'm still here going 🤷🏻‍♂️

I tell you what, when you get a minute go take a photo of your bash plate in the area I removed and show me your off road wear and tear. Love to see what a well seasoned and used plate looks like with some wear and tear.

Sure, I'll take a picture tomorrow. I don't know that mine are well seasoned, but they are used.

Like I said in my original post I know it's not for everyone but honestly the area I removed won't see any significant wear on 99% of the Broncos out here, in my opinion. And I damn well know it won't on mine. LOL

Yeah, I get it, if it won't on yours then it's fine. It's just 4 bolts though, and only two that have to be removed, and nothing heavy. For most it wouldn't make sense for something you do once or twice a year, but I'm under my Bronco several times a month for one thing or another. I have no idea how much wear my skids have in that area, but will take a picture in the morning.

Damn it stop it, now you are making me feel like it was a bad idea! :(

Sorry man, that's really not what I was trying to do. I'm probably too many margaritas into the evening, so ignore my posts.
