I see what you are saying, but it helps that what we are all impatiently waiting for is called a "Bronco"!For me, its all about the product itself...heritage, Ford allegiance Mox Nix. I'd pay $50K for this if it was reliable manufactured in some banana republic:

Yes and no. I have no emotional attachment to the older Broncos and their heritage. I did, however, grow up into muscle cars especially the pro-touring/restomod variety. The idea of old school looks with modern technology. Then the new car world took a retro-inspired turn and I bought a 5th Gen Camaro SS. Most of of the muscle car era looks with a heap of new school goodness. Now, I want to spend more time in the great outdoors. I've owned GM, Ford, FCA. If Chevy had done the right thing with the Blazer it would have been in the running with the Bronco and Wrangler/Gladiator. Ultimately, the Bronco pushes almost all the right buttons for what I'm wanting in a truck and won out.

As a Hertige point of view. Polaris sold Victory motorcycles for years, without much sucess going up against Harley. They bought the Indian name back in 2013 and is now giving HD a run for their money.

I always loved the Blazer in JAWS, but the Chevy re-design has morphed the current iteration into something unrecognizable. The Bronco is such a savvy bold take on old off-road and modern features that it's honestly a near perfect blend.
For me it's a big connection to my 76. I have loved the original Bronco's since I was a kid. I sold mine when they were still available for under $10k. I know I would never buy a 1st gen again because of current prices & better tail rig options. To have the styling very reminiscent of the original is the only reason I would consider buying. if it had been modeled after any other generation, I would be buying a Jeep.
I've wanted a Bronco my whole life. If Ford only made the new Bronco Sport, I'd probably buy a used Escape when mine becomes undrivable//too expensive to fix. The design of the new Bronco really does it for me. As others have stated, retro looks with 21st century technology. Finally, I like more boxy vehicles, which so few non-Jeep Wranglers offer, especially in my price range.

Back in the day I wanted a Bronco but never ended up with one. Over the years I owned a couple of CJ5s, a K5 Blazer and K5 Jimmy. I would have bought a Wrangler long ago if they came with white hard tops so I was stoked that the Bronco was being brought back. I have to admit the gray top is a huge disappointment but hopefully I can get a white Bronco with a matching top.
I am glad Ford re-invented the Bronco the correct way, a reincarnation of an awesome vehicle from the past. In contrast Chevy should be ashamed of using the Blazer name on what looks like a Toyota hatchback.

Partial to Ford, my dad owned 65 and 71 mustangs, lincolns, thunderbirds, I owned a galaxy, thunderbird. Friend had a gen1 yellow bronco.
I think vehicles are necessary evils, pretty much have to have one, cost way too much and the prices keep going up, but that's the America we live in. The most I've ever paid for a brand new vehicle was $14k, 2011 Mitsu Lancer, 237k miles and still going.
Coincidentally I had plans to sell my house prior to the Bronco announcement, market favoring sellers. This will allow me to purchase a brand new Bronco. It's an awesome vehicle, will help me check boxes off my bucket-list. I plan on making it the last vehicle I purchase/own (unless I trade for a newer Bronco down the road). Gift to myself. Just have to decide on AMB or A51, dammit all.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Zero heritage for me. I was looking around for an alternative to Jeep right about the time the Bronco hype started and I like the new design a lot. I am going 2dr and was also looking at the 2dr Defender, but they are not in the USA yet and the first one will be another "First Edition" and when I priced a build I liked it came to 77,000 bucks. No thank you! So I am ordering a Bronco purely for design and price. No heritage.
Although I loved my '79, @Felix808 touched on something that I really agree with and that is the likelihood of purchasing for most people would probably be lower if it had been modeled after any other generation.
I grew up with a first generation Bronco down the street and always coveting it. I had a JK Jeep, 2-door of course, and loved a '79 Bronco. I also have a strong brand loyalty to Ford.
There were so many ways Ford could have F-d it up and, in my opinion, they've been knocking it out of the park.

- I knew the 5.0 Coyote was never an option, because I'm familiar with its dimensions.
- For a long time, I thought they'd only give us the 4-banger, but they didn't.
- I've made peace with no manual on the V6; the I4 has ALL the right numbers except cylinder count. Jay Leno has remarked that it has more power than his original Shelby GT350, referring to the Mustang's version, and with a simple tune they're more than enough.
