I like it - but I fear for the long-term weight effect of that. If I were at an outdoor range (my trap club) and can back up my car to one of the fields - it's close enough to leave open with "stuff" on the shelf - I'd rather have slide out tailgate table...I know this is more secure but could easily overload that to damage the door or hinges.First mod with my new BD. I mounted the Tuffy tailgate box from my JL on the Bronco. Little scary drilling into your 2 day old but 4 holes and rivnuts and it works great. Had it on my JL for 5 years with no rattles or damage to the tailgate.
Agreed. OP should def have tailgate reinforcement bracket installed as well, for peace of mind. No real data on how the bronc hinges will hold up over time.
This was on my Jeep for 5 years with no damage or issues with the tailgate. We will see how the Bronco handles it.
I do firearms training. I can back right up to the range and work out of the box.Binder clips, and an old roll of masking tape for pasties, a tube of Lucas e-clp, and a box of literal bottom shelf .223…this guy shoots.

If it can handle the range gear and ammo you have for an AR I'd suspect a few boxes of 12ga would be ok as well, but I still think I want the slide out and flat floor option.
