But I do have manually adjust my speed when it starts slowing me down at the first appearance of another car in my lane. I either have to pull out to the outside lane way before I need or intend to, or...slow down behind the slower car in front of me and let the train of traffic in the outside lane go flying by. Maybe it’s just the integration in my current car that is off, but it has spurned me forever against ACC.

I would prefer to maintain my preferred speed right up until the point that I need to pass another car, then move out and pass them without adjusting my speed. That would be perfect, but mine doesn’t work that way.
I don't get why you're having to manually adjust your speed, though? Obviously changing lanes will have to happen, why do you need to change the speed?

What kind of car is it? A Camry according to your post? Can you adjust the distance to the car in front of you? Ford's system has 3-4 different distance settings where you can be closer or further to/from the car in front of you based on your preference. It's still further away from the vehicle than you have to drive in South Florida traffic (leave a small gap, people cut you off), but it works well. I don't have any familiarity with Toyota's system. So you're saying you'd rather it keep going your posted speed and then slam on the brakes when it gets near the car to match their speed?

Guess I'm just not understanding why it functioning how it's designed (to maintain a set distance from the car in front of you, no matter what speed they're going) means it's broken.

I'm just going to get an aftermarket audio, no reason to go all the way up two or three trims just for the Lux

How do you do that on a vehicle like Bronco with the big screen as the audio and no visible radio? Where does it go?

All the packages seem pretty well priced based upon what we know. Generally ala carte pricing is higher for individual items so if I want three of the five items I might as well get the package. Resell will be better too.

Camry with three settings: a mile behind the car in front of you; two miles behind the car in front of you; and three miles behind the car in front of you. Simply put, it activates too soon. I have to manually adjust my speed because if I don’t, I’ll never get close enough to the car in front of me to pass it.

I’ve said all along I hate it in this application (Camry). If it works better in my next car, great, but it being the deciding factor on whether I’ll choose the Lux Package it’s not.

One more point to my Ranger/F150 todo checklist before ordering.

A MILE is the closest setting???? That's ridiculous. I see why you hate it now lol. Ford's closest setting is maybe like 3 car lengths.

We have a Honda Pilot with ACC. It would be great if the closest setting is one inch closer than whatever the average person feels comfortable squeezing into. Drifting along going slower than you intended because it auto slowed to the rate the person in front of you is going without notifying you is one thing, but the abrupt computer-generated breaking, because someone thought they could squeeze into the gap the ACC maintains, is quite another altogether. That being said, do you feel the closest distance is close enough to dissuade others to cut you off?

I was exaggerating to make a point. Or was I....? Feels like a mile as the car slows down nowhere near a distance safe enough to think about passing.

I think the key point here is that “lux” actually means something and the targeted buyers aren’t as price-conscious as buyers of the lower models. Be happy they’re around because the higher margins enable Ford to sell Broncos at the lower end of the spectrum.

I think all these manufacturers are in bed with each other. If Ford wanted to rid themselves of Jeep, they would make attractive packages that seriously undercut the competition. Force people to pay more for the Jeep. If you brought in a nicely dressed Badlands at 35-40K instead of 55K+, it would be goodnight sweet prince for Fiat. Then they would have some serious production problems meeting the demand. The prices being what they are, a Badlands is more than an F-150 Raptor. A few more thou and I'm getting a Shelby. It's absurd.
A few things to unpack here:
1. Price fixing is illegal and has been for well over a century. The penalties associated with widespread fixing would put several manufacturers on life support or put them out of business entirely.
2. Ford would take a huge loss on each Bronco sold if they cut the price by $20k.
3. Undercutting Jeep in that manner would create legal issues.
4. Even if it’s possible to cut the price by that much, you’re assuming Jeep won‘t lower the Wrangler’s price in response.

People seem to have a reason to hate basically every trim package except base ? personally mid is more than I need but everything I want. I might end up downgrading to a big bend with mid package and add the auto/ecobutt engine and maybe add the rear bumper. I keep leaning to the aftermarket being much cheaper than ford but we’ll see

I do agree - I wish the systems were more natural with their braking. The problem is, right now, they can't "see" what's happening - all it sees is "vehicle!" or "no vehicle" and once it crosses that imaginary line X distance from the vehicle it's "slam the brakes!!!" whereas a driver would realize what the other car is actually doing and realize slamming the brakes is unnecessary and just letting off the gas to coast for a few seconds works just fine.

I'd say no on the cutting off.....but in this area unless you're a few feet away from the person in front of you, people force their way in anyway.

I really would like to have the sound system and I am sure the wife would like the heated wheel as she has grown accustomed to it in her Explorer....but everything else I could leave. I am wait and see mode to find out the actual cost.

On the 2020 Explorer, you simply use the throttle manually to pass another car. The ACC remains on, but is disabled when the accelerator is controlled by the driver. Remove your foot from the accelerator, and the ACC automatically takes over again (no need to disable/re-enable). If you tap the brake, the ACC turns off (but remembers its set speed) and you need to press a button to enable it.

It's likely that the ACC in the Bronco will work the same way.
