New guy!
I've been reading this forum for some time and I'm trying to decide between a Bronco and Wrangler. I've had a XJ and first year TJ Rubicon. I sold the TJ in 2006 and have a Tacoma. I need a vehicle I can flat tow and would like to start doing trail rides. At this point I'm leaning toward the Bronco because it would be more than capable for the type of off-roading I'd be doing and I want a vehicle with decent road manners. My latest thoughts have been on how to recover a vehicle that has so many systems controlled by electronics.
So I wondering what is the process to recover a completely dead bronco? The situation is you're on a trail and have complete electrical failure and can't put the transfer case into neutral, but other than that the vehicle will roll. Would you have to drop the drive shafts? Does the Bronco have a electric steering rack? If yes I'm assuming that you'd have no steering. I've been reading the 30 page flat towing thread and I know that the 2.7L has electric boosted brakes. I'm under the impression you'd have some brakes even with no power. I know that there are allot of other failure modes that would prevent a simple tow but I'd like to have a contingency for that case.
