Was wondering if anybody pulls a basic, open utility trailer and could comment on whether or not the rear door can be opened up enough to allow hardtop rear glass to be opened too. Since Im likely selling my truck I'll need to use my trailer quite a bit and definitely want to be able to fully access rear cargo area when the trailer is hooked up. Thanks!

I've had a couple trailers hooked up and so far no. The door clears the tongue but is too long to open much more than 45 degrees. If you had a longer tongue or draw bar maybe.

I was also wondering how difficult it is to back up and have visibility of the trailer with the tail gate closed. When I had pick ups in the past, I would simply lower the tailgate and can see the trailer easily. With the tail gate door fully open it would allow great visibility but if it can't be fully opened it might be difficult to see. Especially shorter trailers. I am going to get a 4 X 8 for kayaks and paddle boards.

My neighbor has a Big Bend with a small utility trailer, and I've helped him do a few runs to the transfer station.

My experience matches what @Tricky Dick mentioned. There really is no access to the back with a trailer. You can open the rear door far enough to grab a few things or throw a few things in it, but it definitely will not open wide enough to comfortably load stuff in and out of the Bronco.

I want to say that you can open it just wide enough to flip the back glass on the hard-top, but not 100% sure about that. (Neighbor has a soft top.)

EDIT— Eh, on second thought... I betcha if you parked your Bronco so the trailer was off to the right hand side (park in a way that your Bronco makes an "L") you probably could fairly easily access the back. But if you park in a straight line you can't really get to the back.

My tongue is a little longer than many - looks like I have 38" from center of ball to the front edge of the trailer framing. The jack also swings down so it shouldn't be a clearance issue. I guess what I need to know is how long is the tailgate at 90° open (when the glass is able to go up) and what is the distance from ground to bottom edge of rear door on level ground? The top of the front rail framing on my trailer is 27" off the ground so it's pretty low - wondering if there is enough room for rear door to actually open above it.

Yeah you can't see sh*t out the back when you are backing down the ramp, if that is what you are asking. It is fine when the boat or jet skis are on the trailer because it is up high enough to see but when backing down an empty trailer you can't see it other than with the side mirrors.

The slight help is that, unlike my pickup where the camera was in the tailgate so when it was down like you are saying it pointed at the ground, the camera in the Bronco is fixed in the tire so you can see the trailer with the camera when backing down. But that doesn't help a ton as my arm is over the seat and I'm looking out the back and at the passenger mirror, not at the console.

Ya that makes sense. I'll see the trailer with the kayaks or paddle boards on it but when not, have to use the mirrors or back up camera. Never had a back camera in my pick ups, always dropped the tail gates.

If the 6G Bronco just had a Drop Down Tailgate......... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 but then it would have been more like an EB instead of a Jeep!!!! .... smh.... just another missed opportunity by FoMoCo......
