My friends and I had the same discussion. I went non-sas and she opted for sas. I am not disappointed in my decision, especially if you plan on any mods that make sas a waste of money. We haven’t had a chance to offroad them yet, but I don't see enough difference that she’ll be able to do more difficult trails than me.

Which tires did you choose with the optional wheels? Are you happy with your choice?
I went with the mud terrain option because I had seen them on a pre-production demo and wanted that aggressive look. Not that I expected them to be quiet at all but the hum has lessened after about 200 miles. I am at like 400 currently.

My biggest ordering struggle (like many others have) is SAS or Non-SAS, especially since I’ll already be getting the 33’s with my Badlands order. For those Badlands owners with Non-SAS have you found you’re satisfied with the Non-SAS? I’ve seen the Badlands SAS in person, but still haven’t seen a Badlands Non-SAS in person to gauge actual wheel/tire size.

I’d love to hear your thoughts with pics of your Non-SAS Badlands. Thanks in advance!
I had exactly the same worries and I’m really happy with my non-sas Badlands. It’s everything I wanted.

I particularly like getting the BFG KO2s standard too… and keeping crash bars.

I don’t think you will regret passing on sas - but if you do you can always fix it aftermarket.

Good luck!

For those that went the non-SAS route, did you go with the 2.3 or 2.7? Wondering which would be more efficient with a 33 inch tire.

I went with the non Sas Badlands and optional wheels... Loved that for a stock look... But then did this anyways. Lol I'm still getting about 19.5mpg on the 35's. My combo is only about 4lbs heavier than the optional wheels and 33's.

Great thread. I struggled with this decision and ended up going with the 33's. I've been very happy and it has proven plenty capable after 8,400 miles and a half dozen outings.

As happy as I've been with the factory set up I'm planning to upsize the next time around to some 285/75r17s. I like the idea of another 1/2" clearance without the poke.

As others have said. Badlands non-sas is the goldilocks for me. I went manual so I have the 2.3 and have no regrets at all. More than enough power for any reasonable situation you will need. 4L in crawl gear will literally climb anything in front of it. up hills on highways at 80 mph in cruise will not require any downshift and will maintain speed just fine in 6th gear. The washout interior is awesome. wet kids and pets are no issue on swim days, dirty days on the trails only require a wet microfiber cloth wipedown.

I struggle with this decision all the time. I appreciate hearing everyone's satisfaction with 33's. I love the way the sasquatch looks on the 4 door, but I know I don't need it.

It still is a tough decision to make.

I was going w/ a Badlands non-SAS when I attended Off-Roadeo and drove a SAS the first day. It just rolled over everything so effortlessly that I was sold!

The next day I drove a non-Sas that made it through everything just fine as well, but I'd already falled in love w/ the SAS.

I have no plans to modify my suspension or wheels, and appreciate having a full factory warranty on everything. Regardless, this thread is making me question my configuration, but it was recently built and is in transit to the dealer now!

I hate the looks of the sas wheel. Looks like an rc car. I wound up getting the optional sas wheel. 10k miles in I get 19 mpg. Lovely package. I do wish it had more torque, but I had to have the stick. I wouldn’t consider a 4cyl auto. The BFG tire is miles better than the Wranglers. I have noticed on some trails I do wish I was the 1” higher, but a lift and 35s are an easy upgrade if i want to degrade mpg, acceleration, noise & vibration management, stopping, and my wallet. Maybe though. I’m in the red. Guy in front of me put 35s on stock badlands wheels. Guy behind me is stock too.
