I was hoping that I could tamp down on the anxiety I've always felt when buying a new car - specifically when it comes to parking spots and proximity to other cars. It's definitely in the calculus when deciding what car to drive - for instance, my son and I went to a Braves game last night - I drove the sedan. Looking at other cars in the lot of a similar size or bigger than the Bronco, there wasn't a ton of room between cars. Glad I didn't drive it, but I am going to have to get over it and accept that it's going to get a dent - either in a lot or when I take it out off-road. I don't want to jinx it and say I need a dent to break it in, but....................

This is a common anxiety disorder. You can resolve it by sending me your bronco and then you won’t have to worry about it ever again. Please make sure it’s paid for and has clear title when it arrives.

In all seriousness. Sporting events and new cars don’t mix by the way. I think you made a good decision. Lots of cars traffic and beer before everyone gets back in the cars.

Don't park anywhere near Truist. Park in one of the lots where you have to walk 15 minutes to get to the stadium. Should be plenty of open spots.

Also, good game to catch. Boys are starting to hit their stride!

We have season tickets (emotional purchase after WS) so we have a pass in N29. I may have to take your advice and sell that pass and park elsewhere when we head down there - only then there is the security issue down there with the soft top. 1st world problems I guess. And you are correct - they are coming around.

I have this on all of my vehicles- even my daily driver. My wife and I are just car people and this is normal.

I always remind myself of the cardio benefit I am achieving by parking on the horizon whenever I venture out into the world. My vehicle can be so old the windows are hand cranked up or down, and I still park a mile away. I forget the walk, but a door dent stares back at you every single day until the end of time.

my daily driver is a Raptor since 2013 so you have no idea what I go through to park away from others.

BTW ... park you car on the end spot and you have reduced your anxiety by 50%

Washing a new car a few weeks later, like the Christmas you never wanted. New dings and rock chips every wipe down.

I feel your angst. First time I parked for a few days at O'Hare left me all freaked out. I will probably end up taking the wife's Jeep from now on to O'Hare instead. :p

Sure - but then there is the angst of your wife driving the Bronco (I am projecting here, btw).

Whenever I get a new car, I usually just put some initial dings down the side with a ball peen hammer, that way I don't have to worry about it anymore.

A simple fix (from a jeep guy)- make sure you have rock rails or metal rails on your bronco. Because of the height and location, normal cars can’t ding you when they open their doors. They hit the rail on the bottom first and chip their own paint.

Now, you can’t do anything about people sliding back and forth between vehicles, but I rarely worry about scratches from parking. Besides, aren’t Broncos supposed to see some non-pavement action? In the sport bike world you get made fun of for having “chicken strips” (too much tread on the sides of your tires- indicating you don’t corner hard). I figure a few scratches and dents show it lived a little.
