Hello,

Has anyone had an issue with the middle latch not engaging on their soft top? This is the latch above the drivers side rear door. I had the rear windows off last week, and now when I close the soft top, this middle latch will not engage.

Thanks!

I had to pull down with some force to get it to latch when I put my top back up. Do you have your back windows in while you are trying to latch this? I did not, but if you do it might take even more pressure to pull that latch down?

Thanks, yes, back windows were installed. I pulled with all my weight, but, it looks to be a few cm back.

Did you try latching with the rear hatch lifted? Some of these have been tight but if it wasn't before, you might have some tension in the top material. Try leaving the rear up, latching and see how tight the hatch is to get secured.

Last time I had this issue, I made sure the passenger side clicked first, then the drivers side latched without issue. I fought with it for a while, but I seem to remember thats what fixed it for me.

That's a good idea; I never thought of trying that.

I have the same issue with mine. I end up having to "drop" it from a few inches up and it then latches. I don't put my rear/side windows in until the roof is pulled latched up front.

I had to get up above and push it down b/c I couldn't get enough pulling it and it worked.

That center latch is a bitch.....the spring popped off mine on the passenger side too so I have to manually make sure its open so I can close it.

I had this issue and I loosen the plate and adjusted it has not reoccurred….. I do have issues latching in the retracted position but I think that is caused by IAG lift shocks

Hi there. This latch concern doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Bronco. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

I had the same issue on the passenger side of my vehicle after doing some off-roading this past weekend with the top in position 1. Drove back to Denver and noticed a lot more whistling on the highway, then realized the hook wasn't latched properly.

Here's another thread with further discussion on the topic: Thread 'Soft top latch issue.' https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/soft-top-latch-issue.30901/

Check on where the latch hits the part of the roll bar mount where the hook goes around the bar. My latch was hitting well short. It’s two easy bolts to loosen and adjust. Now it’s not too easy but not hard at all either. Slightly firm pressure latches it which is what I wanted.
