Been to Italy many times, both when I lived in Germany and just for vacation since. Northern Italy is nice for the Alps, but I did most of my Alps trips in Austria or Germany. Driving in Italy is fine north of Rome, but the farther south you get, the crazier it gets.

We now go mostly south of Naples for 2-3 weeks at a time and stay in various places. Usually in the mountains overlooking the sea. The Amalfi coast is great early or late season. I never go to Europe in the summer. Too hot and too many people.
Also, my Dad's mom would say never go to San Marco around Christmas... both folks got the flu.

I know it's insane there, fortunately where we were it was quiet at the time, though my Uncle, little 80yo man, drove like a maniac around the mountain, like photoshop him with some tire smoke from initial D

My military career allowed me to travel a bit. I'll list a few places I spent at least one night... Been to almost every US state, incl Alaska and Hawaii. Outside of the US...? Canada, Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Uruguay, Bahamas, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Greece, Sardinia, Switzerland, Slovenia (formerly Yugoslavia), Albania, Turkey, Egypt, Kenya, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia (was there during Iraq invasion of Kuwait), Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, UAE, Afghanistan (too many times), India, Nepal (Kathmandu), and Japan... I may have missed a few... ?‍♂ But best place ever to be... Home!
Quite a list there!

Yeah, no place like home

Quite a list there.

Ironically never really been to West Orange (Or North Jersey really, basically Central/Shore here except for the occasional AC Trip), so curious what it's like there

Hmmm. It was 2002-03. I was training at Wyckoff Heights medical center in Brooklyn and couldn't afford to rent any longer in the City. West Orange had plenty of snowbirds amid bedroom communities for people who commuted. I ended up living in a beautiful modern home as the sort of live-in caretaker/errand-runner for an older couple, one of whom was disabled from freakin polio of all things. It was busy work and odd jobs for about 6 months and me alone in the big ole house for the other 6 months while they enjoyed Sarasota. And even better, I had a car and access to an underground parking spot near the hospital. Not too shabby. Neighborhood wise, heavily Jewish, more trees than you'd imagine, and lots of golf courses. I went into the city for entertainment.

What kinda Jewish, Hasidic or modern type?

Lakewood's Hasidic, there's a reason they have this bumper sticker:

Marlboro (Next door to my old home town, Colts Neck) is a mix of Modern and then a bit of everything else.

Just asking as I wanna know if I should be scared driving through there or not (Hasidics tend to be terrible drivers)

I’ll take a crack at it...
Arizona, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Kansas, Georgia, Florida, Idaho, California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Maine, New Hampshire, Mainland Japan, Okinawa, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Laos, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Hawaii, Ireland, Budapest Hungary, Bucharest Romania, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Canada, and Mexico.
A lot of those places are filled with some of the best, down to Earth people you’ll ever meet. I would go back to most of them.

Ahhhh. A mix. I guess. There seemed to be more synagogues than bars; just an observation. I don't recall the drivers there being any better or worse than elsewhere though. I had a Honda S2000 at the time, it was a blast. Blue with blue leather interior (shout-out to the First Edition navy pier bitchathon ).

Way too many places for me to list or even remember. I’m a Coast Guard sailor and I’ve moved about every 2 to 3 years over the past 19 years in all corners of the U.S. and a few places overseas and in the Middle East sand box. I’ve also been around the world on several ships. Too much beer in most of those places to even remember. ???

A few too many to type out at the moment. Still missing North Dakota, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Hawaii in the states.

Rio di jenero, Peru, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Dubai, Perth Australia, Spain, India, Mexico. I’ve been through most of the states but only spent time in Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Illinois, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Georgia, Florida, Hawaii Texas, and North Carolina.
I’ve lived in South Carolina and Virginia. I currently live in Connecticut.
I was born and raised in California and it will always be my favorite state.
The places on my “must visit” list are Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Alaska, New Zealand, more of Australia, Argentina and the Canadian Rocky Mountain states.
The reason I have visited so many places was because I was in the military. Not all of the visits were very fun.

Salem is awesome! I’ve been up there as a tourist, but I also go up there every year (not this year?) for a kayak fishing tournament. I always have a great time. Now that I have become accustomed to their rough exterior, “Mass-holes” are some of my favorite people.
I live about two hours away in Connecticut.
