I've lived all over the world and finally settled down in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Great weather with a lot of sunshine year-round, low humidity, beautiful scenery, lots to do and many great restaurants. The outdoor activities are endless out here to include hiking, biking, running, hunting, fishing, driving mountain trails, etc. I fell in love with the place after just one visit and made the move 15 years ago!

I'm in SW Washington. Love the weather here. A little more rain but very mild summers and winters. The town I'm in is pretty middle of the road politically but leans right. However, the state legislation is all based on what King County wants which has grown tiresome.

Definitely wanna visit that kinda town. My oldest sister was married to a guy in the coast guard, so my neph was born in Oregon, definitely have to check out those two states while avoiding the big cities for now

Arkansas is nice, lived there for a while. gets hot in the summer, but not as humid as Louisiana, and cold in the winter, but only about a weeks worth of snow. or you can go a little further north, the state of misery, Iowa, something like that. warm but not hot, but can have some brutally cold weather in the winter (at least what I consider brutal to a southern boy)

It's a good thing to be around people who are different from you

Don't poo poo a good location for it's politics
While diversity is important, the politcs in the region may greatly impact the city/state and environment you will be in every day.

I love Texas, but I hate humidity

What state in Flyover country is mild in the summer and is Red? (Again, not gonna debate politics, just looking to see where)

Thanks in advance

Rogue
What do you call a mild summer? Also, what about winter? Every area has its pluses and minuses. You just have to see which one is more important.

Also, do you hate the heat or the humidity more?

I’ve been in 49 states. Lived in 7. Retired from USN in 2001. Looked at several states. Chose TN for milder winters and summers. Also a huge part no income tax, low property tax, low cost of living. I’m 70 miles from Smokey Mountains. I live on a lake for much less then the cost of a home in CA. I’m 9 hours to FL in winter, 9 hours to MI in summer and same to Atlantic coast. Politics do mater for taxes and cost of living. I love it here. Good places for off raiding, fishing, hunting and camping. Great motorcycle roads too.

<--- away from big city crap.
Basically.

Also, seeing you're from TN reminds me of that show from HGTV (Sister not only watches it, but leaves the tv on for the cat, so I'll just notice it in the bg)

Basically, small town you could walk around in is idea

Really more humidity, I could happily bake in the sun so long as I don't have the sweaty hug of humidity on me

I travel a lot in the US and mostly things are the same but there are a couple things that hopefully aren't too political to discuss

But oh man I tried to pump my own gas in Oregon my first time up there and they came running at me like I was going to start a Zoolander style gas fight!

When traveling the different local alcohol regulations are a pain too, having to shop at different special stores or not being able to buy on Sunday. Or in some places beer and wine are sold in different places than liquor.... Or 3.2 beer.... Ugh. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that here

So, South Texas, all of Florida and Louisiana, most of Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Georgia are off of your list.

It's supposed to be the same here in Dirty Jerzy, but the only time anyones every gotten on my case about pumping m own gas is the one special needs guy at the Quick Check across the street (Retarded kind)

I go into Duane Reade in NYC, I can get alcohol. I go to CVS in Jersey. I remember in Cali its the same as NY, except we were staying at a Casino at first and then we were in Pacific Beach, so there was no need to get any there

Pretty much. Case in point btw, today's 80 but 44% Humidity right now, I'm only bummed since I'm in the office for the most part xD

Well California will suit your weather needs for sure. Just need to buy a place in the OC, Brentwood, or any of a number of Red areas.

My old friend who taught my stick was from OC, and there's the rural areas way outside the cities as well.

What part of SanDi are you from btw?
