I know everyone has a different opinion on the best offroad tires, but I’m having a hard time figuring out what tires I should get to replace the Sasquatch Goodyear Territory MTs. The main characteristics I’m looking for in a tire are below (in order of importance).

1) Minimal rock throwing (at least less than the Goodyear Territories)
2) Decently quiet
3) Good tread life
4) Good snow traction
5) Good offroad traction
6) Some other thing I’m probably forgetting

Some of the tires I’ve been looking at so far are below (in no particular order). I know that the list is all over the place with ATs and MTs.

1) Nitto Ridge Grappler
2) Nitto Trail Grappler
3) BFGoodrich KO2
4) Toyo Open Country AT3
5) Toyo Open Country MT3
6) Mickey Thompson Baja Boss
7) Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac (I have these on my 4Runner now and they’re a nice tire, but kind of noisy now that they’re older).

Obviously every tire is going to have its pros/cons, I’m just trying to find something that will check most of the boxes. I’m no tire expert and don’t have a lot of experience with different tires, so any advice is welcome and appreciated.

If anyone has another recommendations or any experience with any of the tires I mentioned, your opinion would be of great value to me and other people as well. I’m sure I’m not the only one considering swapping these tires out.

Opinions on tires are about as varied as what's the best beer to drink.
After 30+ years of driving 4wds, I have my personal needs and I know what has and has not worked for me. My opinion is completely biased, as is everyone else's.

Keep an open mind when researching tires. Try to find what you must have in a tire and start there. Almost all tires today are leaps and bounds better than the buckshot mudders we were running around on in the 80s.

Personally, the one thing I insist on in a tire today is made in the US. There are many tires made here for almost every application. I choose to support US workers when I can, and tires are certainly an item that can done on.

I chose Toyo AT IIIs for my Bronco, but the next set will probably be more mud than AT.

I went with 35 Ridge Grapplers on my 2 door badlands. I just spent a week in Big Bend NP at the Talley Campground which is about 25-30 miles of dirt road driving to get to. I went in and out each day, sometimes hauling ass, and i only had 1 small ding on my door. I think its from something else but the wife says its because i was driving so fast. I also have the Zroadz side steps so that may have stopped some rocks, but i hardly heard any hard metal pings while driving.

I got Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires. They’re too new to have an opinion, but they sure look good. 😁

Edit: I've discovered that they rub the stabilizer bar at full turn. These are the 315/70R17 tires, same as the Goodyear Wranglers, so I don't know what the difference is. Maybe the sidewall tread is more aggressive?

I went with 35” Falken Wildpeaks as well at the recommendation of the truck shop, Zeus Off Road, where I bought them. My main criteria were quiet, good snow traction, and a rugged look. During the winter I’ll be running these on snow covered lakes for things like ice fishing and don’t have a Sherp ATV(pictured below) like some of my neighbors. That thing actually floats so it’s a true amphibious vehicle and a blast to ride in, lol.

The AT3W’s have a 3 peak snow rating unlike a lot of the other tires I looked at. The ice is still not out on our lake so we deal with a long snowpack here in MN. A few of the mechanics in the shop run them on there Jeeps so I figured they know their stuff. I can’t speak to longevity because they are two days old. :)

I also got them because of the winter rating. My Sasquatch Bronco already came with 35s so the size is identical before and after. My local tire shop gave me $875 trade-in on the Wranglers.

I’ve got buddies in Portland and Bend and you’ve had several feet of snow recently. :) I spent 20 years in NorCal including a condo in North Lake Tahoe so I’ve done a lot of mountain driving in snowstorms.

3200 miles on MT Baja Boss. First set of MT’s I’ve ever run. Very happy with tire thus far. Quiet enough, triple peak rated, aggressive side wall, made in USA.

So the issue is the Load Rating. If you are willing to go to an "E" rated tire, then there are a lot of choices.

However if you don't want a stiffer ride (or run a much lower tire pressure) you'd want to stick with the original "C" rated....and there is the issue.

Many list for 35" C rated is pretty dang small.

So far, this is my list . You may notice that the Nittos, although recommended by many, are very heavy.

I was hesitant about the C vs. E load rating being too harsh, but I went with the E-rated Falken Wildpeak AT3W in a 315/70/17. I'm pleased with the ride quality, just maybe 15% stiffer than the factory 255/70/18 that came on my OBX and a way smoother ride compared to the 35" K02s on my buddy's door Rubicon.

Seeing that your in CO this may or may not help. My wife’s Wrangler has 315 KO2s, we had a few small snow storms here (10/12 inches). My experience with them is they’re horrible compared to the GY territory. I took her to work and it was all over the road snow would pack in and basically make them slicks. I picked her up in my bronco sas and it barley slid around and felt gripped to the road.

I don’t really know what you were trying to achieve with those tires. Probably a tough sidewall but they are a genuine performance killer at 72 pounds.

Good snow traction for the winter and decent off road capability. I didn't buy the Bronco for performance as to me it's not a high performance or good handling vehicle. It's mass, high center of gravity, suspension, and hp/weight ratio prevents it from being that.

My daily driver is a car that does the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds and goes 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. 70% of my miles will be in my car maybe a bit less during the winter.
