I've been trying to figure out a winch for my 2021 Black Diamond w/ Modular bumper since delivery last July. At first I heard the BD couldn't have a winch because of the front camera, more recently, I learned its the Standard Lights on the BD thats the issue. I asked Ford if I could swap the Standards out for the Signature Lights and their engineer said the following:

"To swap the headlamps, it would require changes to some of the parameters in the Body Control Module (BCM) to be made. I am unsure how this would be performed, and which specific parameters would need to be changed and to what value. I am not aware of any dealer service procedure to swap headlamp series either."

My local Ford Dealership won't swap them out, so I'm hoping to get some direction from 6G members on how to go about it. My desire is to swap the lights and then put on the Warn Winch.

Appreciate the help!

You could go with Rough Country if you have the 2.3L. It does mount fairly low. I'm still on the fence about going with it.

I'm not aware of any way the BD could have a front camera as that comes only on the high and lux packages, neither of which are available on the BD. Also, unaware of any issue with the lights.

I've seen that and while an option, I want to keep my Ford as Ford as possible...until I'm told I cant. :)

The signature light is apparently a plug and play swap. A few members have already done it and I don't recall any changes to the parameters. If it was needed, pretty sure it could be accomplished with Forscan, but again, I don't think its necessary. Someone did post how they did it.

Right now, there are two choices. JCR offroad has a winch mount very similar to Ford's. If you have the front camera, they also have a camera relocation bracket. Rough Country has a hidden winch mount (only for 2.3 liter), but when I looked last, there was some trimming you need to do. Also, you lose some approach angle. RC is apparently also developing a winch mount for the front of the bumper. Last I heard, its 4-6 weeks out.

IMO, no need to go with the Ford winch unless you can get it for under 2k. It's a standard mount and warn winch.

Correct about the camera, I was initially told it was because of the black box in the middle of the modular bumper (crash assist?)...more recently, Ford was specific about the lights being the issue....here's the full explanation they gave me:

"I was able to get final confirmation on the FPP Winch issue we have discussed. Unfortunately, that winch does not work with the Black Diamond trim level Bronco and there are not plans to change that at this time.

Regarding the headlight change that we discussed, based on circumstantial evidence, it looks like you can change to the LED Signature lighting with no issues that have been reported. However, here is the response I received from engineering regarding that change.

To swap the headlamps, it would require changes to some of the parameters in the Body Control Module (BCM) to be made. I am unsure how this would be performed, and which specific parameters would need to be changed and to what value. I am not aware of any dealer service procedure to swap headlamp series either.”

I think it is worth checking back with your dealer to see if they know of any procedures to follow if a customer wants to change their headlamp series. It’s possible that this is something the dealer may have encountered and if so, that is going to be your best option to get the FPP Winch to work with your vehicle as seamlessly as possible.

As discussed, there is nothing physically preventing you from fitting the winch on your vehicle, the issue has to do with the headlamp beam pattern being obstructed by the winch when the turn signal lamps are on."

There is nothing behind the "black box" on the Black Diamond. It is only a cover for Adaptive Cruise Control available with the LUX package. Yes, a winch would interfere with ACC, but the BD has no option for LUX. Consequently, you also know there is no front camera that would be obstructed by a winch. The BD can only be optioned with the MID package that has no front camera.

The lighting issue that you mention is a non-factor. Many have already swapped with no Forscan changes needed. Standard or Signature lights have no effect on the FPP Winch.

If you need reassurance, look at the Everglades Edition. It is a Black Diamond with MID +. It includes the Signature lights and FPP Winch. The only thing different on the front of the two trims is that the Everglades has a Badlands grill instead of Black Diamond grill - a cosmetic difference only.

I want to install the signature lighting on my black diamond. Was it really that easy.
