I thought I saw a version of an add on step that will mount to the factory rock slides with a few inch drop. I did find IAG makes a version that sits 2" below the top of the factory slide:
IAG 2" below

Are there any other options that are a little bit lower?

The only other step that mounts to the rock rail I know of is Archetype Racing. I think theirs sits level with the rock rail.

IAG is looking at a version that is another 2” lower, but the interest wasn’t there on the poll they took. I think they are still planning on it. Just wasn’t a priority.

that said I got the 2” drop and it’s enough for my 6 year olds to get in and out.

Cool. I have the OBX with running boards but I'm planning on larger tires and switching over to rock slides with a step.

What size tires and do you have a lift?

Standard badlands. 33” tires. I think the badlands sits an inch above the OBX, .5” below SAS in terms of lift.

SAS is closer to 2” higher with the lift and bigger tires.

The AR Stirrup is another option that attaches to the OEM rock rails. And, it is adjustable to either be even with the top of the rock rail or 2" below top of rock rail. Don't have to decide between two versions when ordering.

Yeah. Maybe I wasn’t clear. 35” tires vs 33” adds an inch in height. The .5”-1” difference in lift works out to a 1.5”-2” difference in height at the door sill.

Ya that’s what I was talking about. It’s 1.8” at the door sill for step in height.
