My 2 door TJ is a 96” or so wheelbase. I drive it 65 on the freeway, occasionally 70 mph. I ve ran it up to 95 or so and trust me when I say that’s ‘too fast’ for such a vehicle. My ordered Bronco is a 2 door BL with Sas. It will not get driven 75-80 , probably 70 tops most likely. It s 4-6” longer in wheelbase than my TJ and about 6-8” wider track with IFS vs straight axle but still short and blocky.
YMMV

I was jamming on the turnpike over the weekend and my 2 door 2.7 wouldn’t go over 107 mph. I don’t need to go any faster. I was just wondering if anyone else got it over that?
107 yours must be defective, when I jam out mine does 177, only when I select sport mode though.

I defer on ‘afraid of speed’ … I d call it afraid of a vehicles common sense limitations. My 14 Shelby at 150 mph is stuck to the ground and no worries about instability; only worry is where you re going that fast as if a public roadway around someone can easily not realize how fast you re going and pull out in front of you, etc.

Again, vehicle ability, common sense and lots of other things come into play; not just a XXX mph number and a generalized afraid of speed attitude.

To each his own; Attorney s representing plaintiffs love people who have histories of pushing the limits when their Client has been hurt!!

Like I said, vehicle limitations aside. I'm just eye-rolling at the folks saying there's no reason to go over 75, as if we're driving 20 year old shit boxes. There's highways in Texas with higher speed limits than that ffs, and the Bronco has ZERO issues with higher speeds provided you know what you're doing.

I would be happy with a 75 mph limit. Why would anyone ever need to go over that in any vehicle, let alone an off-road designed SUV. Seriously?
Come to Texas. Most freeways have a 75 mph limit (one has a 80 mph posted limit) but average speeds of vehicles outside the major city areas are probably 85-90 mph. There's a lot of territory to cover and you can't do it slowly.

I drive on an 85 weekly. If your driving 75 on a Texas highway get the fuck out of the way Grandpa.

Tell that to Alaska, where our highest speed limits are 65.

One of the roads I drive regularly has sections 4 lanes wide, arrow straight, with moose fence on both sides...and a 55mph limit
I'd definitely never go 3x the limit though there 😉

Tire and vehicle limitations aside, this thread has really just taught me that this forum is largely made up of grannies afraid of speed.
Some reserve their need for speed to an appropriate vehicle. Hayabusa ring a bell?

My 2dr basesquatch is very comfortable at 85 in a passing situation. Just coming out of break in, that's as far as I've pushed it so far. Apples and oranges...

All valid points and various scenarios. My Super Duty is limited to 95-99 mph and I ve hit that passing slower 65-70 mph vehicles on 2 lane highways in N Nevada. Like TX from the standpoint of being out in the middle of no where. But I wouldn’t drive my truck at a sustained 90 mph just because it’s heavy and takes a ways to get it stopped.
I can definitely see the need to hit 80-85+ mph in a Bronco for a similar passing situation but if I m gonna drive a sustained 80 + mph for lots of miles I ll choose one of our other vehicles.

Speed never hurt anyone. It's the sudden deceleration that typically kills people.

Dang, speed limit on the interstate around here is 75mph, and if you're only going 75, you're gonna get ran over!

Hayabusa who?
My tuned S1K cranks out over 200 hp while weighing 100 lbs less.

Oh, and my car does okay too.

First gen Busa’s are going for 7ish on Craigslist. Slap a 1k turbo kit on one and you’ve got yourself a 300+ hp squid missile for under 10k. How much did that tuned S1K set you back?

Lol just Joshin’ ya man, nice stable you got there!!

Sorry everyone. This thread is already off topic anyway.
