Wow! Haven't gotten past the seat covers actually having some form of revenue for the people who make it.

America, land of opportunities. Learn how to make some seat covers.

It's an ATV vehicle. Not a luxury sports car.

Actually no joke - I agree with this. At least in terms of shaping metal, to make various trick parts for your 4x4.

I'm a hobbyist welder and last year added a $250 plasma cutter. Rocker guards, bumpers, all kinds of fun creative stuff you can make by turning metal to liquid.

The 4x4 as a canvas for creativity can be fun, especially because you can get away with non-showroom appearance compared to a car.
Agree completely.

This would probably make @cclkramer have a brain aneurism, literally die as he reads this or at least eyes physically flying out of his sockets, but you can actually acquire the tooling and materials necessary to do something for yourself.

Your example above is great! Plasma cutter has TONS of uses if you've got projects to do.

I wanted shop work benches capable of supporting 2,000 lbs but didn't want to spend over $2,000 each to buy them.

So I can build a long block (Motor and transmission) together without having to bend over. I went out and got a welder, safety gear, raw materials, tools and equipment, and learned how to make some shop tables. Next up will be floor-to-ceiling industrial shelving to hold palletized engines and also bin storage.

Total price to build these two benches (12 linear feet long) was about $3,500 if I never use any of the equipment again. Note, that's a cost savings over buying 2 benches of this total length.

Cost for floor to ceiling shelving will be cost of materials only, ~$800 (did you know metal prices have gone up since 2019???????), so there's HUGE cost savings in doing this myself.

I actually enjoyed fabricating metal, welding, actually made sand molds and casted objects out of aluminum. I had metal shop in junior high and high school. I wanted to be a operator and took machine technology and numerical control in a junior college. I actually made a single shock frame for my old bultaco motorcycle. As of now I'm too old and have a busted up body from working heavy construction for 30 years. Large cast in place condominium projects, football stadiums, all purpose hockey, basketball arenas, sewage treatment plants! I am well educated in fabricating just about anything. That's what I did for 40 years! This is why it blows my mind at the cost of all this aftermarket crap. As you speak with plasma cutters, robotic welding, cutting, computerized machinery. Easy to retool equipment for production of raw materials in quantity. It make no sense.

Chris, I think the problem right now is there's not much competition in the Bronco aftermarket. If the Bronco makes it, it should be like Jeeps aftermarket after a while. It won't come down much, but the prices should get a bit better. And there will be more suppliers to choose from.
100% agree with you on this, some lackluster designs or parts are getting top dollar simply because they are the only one selling the product right now. Like a simple metal bracket for a light bar or to put inside the modular front bumper for $400. It is ridiculous, but once these early adopters do the work, companies like rough country and rugged ridge will begin to develop these niche products at a much more tolerable price point and still good quality.

Sewing machine, shears, and hog rings are pretty cheap and not near as hard on the body as heavy construction.

Yep! Spent less than the competition, and got less than the competition. But it's all I needed/wanted and I'm ok with the compromise. Isn't it great how that works? šŸ˜…
I came real close to getting those. I just pre-ordered the Oracle set about a week ago.

A sweet option that I likely would have jumped on, had I still been on the fence and not ordered yet.

Cool concept! If you think the price is to high - don’t buy it. I don’t see the problem. I would love to have a raptor f-150 but don’t want the bill.
