Did a subwoofer and amp install over the weekend. After looking at available spots for an amp, the sales guy suggested the JL Audio MX500/1 due to its compact size and being waterproof. As luck would have it, it fits EXACTLY perfect in the rear storage bin on the floor.

Yes I drilled right below the lip. Put an extra layer of foam around the bottom of the lip to even it all out

Did you switch out any of the the other speakers? Did you pull the feed from the front kick panels? If so, did you use both? Did you have to add a line output converter (LOC) with that particular amp? Which model is the sub? Thanks in advance!

I have switched out both front sets with Hertz brand. They have high sensitivity so a stock head unit can power them just fine. Pulled from both front kick panels. This amp has a low/high switch so I just set it to high and got a pair of speaker wire to rca adapters, no need for a LOC. the sub is this one:

Thanks.....How is the sound compared to stock, in your opinion? That is the sub that I've been looking at.

Of course it is night and day better than stock but still a budget build. I think to get great sound you’d want a 4 channel amp and full range in the rear. The sub is doing its job nicely though

Awesome, I was just looking for an amp to fit in that space!

I recommend adding some kind of sealant to the screw holes, just in case.
The other side of the plastic exterior space (with some sound deadening material on the plastic).
Unlikely to get water intrusion but easy fix to solve a potential cleanup/headache with deep water.

Glad it's water proof cuz your going to need it according to all the condensation threads :ROFLMAO:

I wonder if it gets hot back there with little to no airflow and above the muffler.
