Custom Hood Decal Concept -Xanthus

Prior to picking up our Bronco, I purchased a semi-professional vinyl cutter as I wanted to have some fun with decals and graphics on it.

My wife and I finally decided upon a vision, I designed it, and then test cut a small scale version this afternoon. I am beyond excited with how it turned out.

Based initially on the Wildtrak matte black and gloss black hood decal, it’s matte black with our gloss black ‘XANTHUS’ logo, and then a topographic element with a steampunk inspired skull in the middle of it.

Can’t wait to get the full size one cut out and installed. Here are some pictures of the small scale test and design.

If i were to get an Area 51 Bronco, I would name it Blueskin. He was A gray half-Arabian stallion that was one of George Washington's horses that he rode during the Revolutionary War.

Well done, this is really impressive. Aside from the cutter, how did you actually do this? Did you print it yourself somehow?

I’m also curious about making some custom decals and assumed I would be sending image files to one of the custom shops, but interested in other approaches.

Agree you should work on the X, I was also scratching my head.

I use Adobe Illustrator. There’s no printing involved at all. The matte black is one layer of vinyl, the gold is cut out of another layer of vinyl and the gloss black is another layer of vinyl. They are all laid one on top of the other to create the finished piece. All pieces are cut with the vinyl cutter and then release tape picks them up from the backing and enables me to put them on top of the next piece of vinyl. Just takes patience.
