Hope so. It is quite possible they ran out and kept producing and received more and it may have been easier to put those chips in vehicles in production rather than bring ones back thru the line. It’s a long shot, but anything is possible. Sure would be nice to hear from @Ford Motor Company

If it is real, then there’s zero chance I’m the only one from the 1/24 crew. Btw I was a 1/27 blend, 7202 rotation, with a 44/385 sequence noted on my window sticker.

I placed an order for a MY22 Ranger Lariat in Oct 2021, just after my dealer told me I probably wouldn't see my Bronco until 2023. My Bronco and Ranger got scheduled the same week (1/24), with the Bronco having rotation # 7894 and the Ranger with rotation # 7902. Both have blend dates of 1/28. However, the Bronco shows 1468/2270, and the Ranger shows 291/385. FWIW the Bronco shows 3/2 EDD, and the Ranger shows 3/3 EDD. I figured I'd throw out some more data to those trying to figure this crap out!

My dealer just sent me a screenshot showing ETA shows 2/20-2/26 but there is also a note stating Micro chip hold at plant and he’s not really sure what any of that means…is it coming or not

I just called my dealer. I'm showing a chip hold now but still showing the same 3/2 EDD. I'm sure that will slowly update soon too. Oh well, I guess that means we all get to hang out on here together for a few more weeks!

Well... you meet the most interesting people in the strangest places.

Long week for me and a ton to do this weekend, but I decided I'd give myself a breather this morning and fix some coffee and play a little Xbox to take my mind off things for a bit. I group up with these two random guys that knew each other. One mentioned to the other that "his plant" would be totally shut down for at least a week and I inquired what he did for work. Low and behold this guy works on the assembly line at the Ford plant in Chicago where they make the police suv's.

I told him I had a Bronco scheduled for delivery in two weeks that got caught up in the chip shortage and asked him if he knew what was going on. He said that they were entirely out of chips and all the delayed vehicles were due to a combination of either finding bad chips during QC or running out of chips to complete vehicles. He said the plan was that they were going to stop the assembly lines for at least 1 week (but maybe longer) until last-minute delivery would catch them back up on the chips. He said the only people that will be working next week will be what he called the "maintenance teams" who will go look at each completed vehicle from January over the next week to determine if the vehicle can be salvaged. Meaning if they have/receive a missing part/chip to complete the build it will be shipped, or if it's not salvageable then the entire vehicle would be stripped for parts to put back on the line to build new vehicles.

It sounded to me that there is a slim possibility that chips could come in and many of these January builds could be fixed and shipped in the weeks ahead and the 3-month delay on EDD's was issued just as a precaution. For vehicles that can't be fixed, I can only assume their trucks are scrapped and their build date gets rescheduled - which could be very bad since current orders already stretch into MY23. My other concern is that considering how wide spread chip failure was in this lot, there's going to be some risk that chips passing QC now might fail down the road. And yes, we have warranties, but that could be a pia if you ended up making repeated trips to the dealership for electronics failures.

Thanks for sharing. I wonder if there’s a way to know whether your rig has passed through QC?

I think if you sussed out that your truck made it down the assembly line (i.e. your mods popped and the activation on the Ford app started displaying) and you still haven't seen "in production" get checked off on the pizza tracker, you can assume you're in a QC hold.

Not sure if good news or horrible lol. Does Ford do that? Recycle a 90% finished vehicle?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why would any of the Broncos not be salvageable? Seems wild to tear down a whole vehicle if it’s just missing a part.

I was bumped from 1/17 to 1/24 and now bumped to 1/31.
Can someone help me understand how in production 1/31 has an expected delivery date of 5/21/22??

Basically it's a guess at this point. They need components and the chips in them for the line. Those manufacturers are going to have to come up with an extra 3 to 5 thousand pieces to fix the ones missing or bad....I'm sure no one actually knows real time line.
