Hey all,
Took delivery of my daughters base model Saturday and the rear drivers door makes the thud.
I know it does that when the door bolt is loose so I grabbed to tool to tighten it and I discovered the bolt is gone.
Can anyone tell me what size bolt I need to save me a trip to the dealer? Its the top bolt that goes in from the bottom.
Thanks

Even the bolt on looks slightly cross threaded or something.

I'll probably have to, sure. I'm just afraid they will tell me they are back ordered but they will call me when it comes in.
Plus I'm trying to avoid the whole "must have got lost when you took the doors off" when I never took the doors off.
But that's fine.
In the meantime just seeing if someone knows the size/pattern of the bolt.
Much easier to walk into Ace Hardware or whatever and grab the appropriate bolt than swing by Ford and have them ask me if I have an appointment.
I'm being slightly facetious but only slightly.
Not sure a 2 dollar bolt is worth the time and effort for a trip to the dealer but if that's what I need to do then I will.

Order from dealer parts dept.

In the mean time, take bolt out of your other door that is in the same location, bring it into Lowes and find a match if it’s bothering you. You can find out the thread type and everything you need in there.. Just make sure you get one that can tolerate the elements and won’t rust in there while you await the proper replacement.

Take the bolt that's there and see if it fits in the missing side. Take it to Ace if that's acceptable and size it up. I'd get it from the dealer. But if the hassle isn't worth it well there you go.

If it were me:

(1) CALL dealer. Tell them to order that part because it was missing. Pick it up when it comes in. Might take a month or a week, doesn’t matter.

(2) Get a bolt at hardware store to hold you over or leave the door closed until part comes in at dealership.

This. And, use this as an opportunity to build a relationship with a service adviser for when you might need other service in the future. (If you don't have a service adviser yet, ask your sales person who he/she recommends and to make an introduction via email for you.) If you email pics to your service adviser, he/she can ID the correct part, tell you if the part is in stock, and if not, order it. A simple bolt like that (which is likely used across most Ford products) should be readily available. Then you can swing by and the tech can pop it on the door.
