I wonder if this is a problem for some of us? I just seen this in another tread.

If this is the case, and they ran out of chips, why would there be builds continuing the following weeks? If they ran out of chips , production should halt, or they should use the next week batches stock to complete what they started right? why leave cars laying around with bad chips or no chips? you're going to get a backlog glut.....I'm no production manager but I dont think I would want to leave vehicles laying around if you have other chips to use, unless you know youre getting replacements in a day or two.....we'll see.....

Right. It’s also been randomly placed builds that are getting hung up. And there’s builds after those stuck in production that are already shipped. I don’t buy that chip rumor either.

I think they do what they have to do to keep the production line moving, and anything that gets pulled for extra attention gets that when they have availability. like other wise you'd keep pulling vehicles from purgatory to put more in there.. which ultimately would take more time. That's just what it seems like and how I remember it working when I worked production a long time ago. The line doesnt stop or it causes all sorts of backlog issues.

The only reason I can figure to do it would be if the time to install a chip after a vehicle is dramatically small compared to the time to produce the vehicle without the chip.

If it takes 4 shifts to make a bronco, and 1 hour to add the chip in after the fact, the math says crank out them broncos and smack the chips in after the fact.

Buuuuut we know there's no meaningful difference between trim levels when it comes to microchips (it's all hardware and FORSCAN settings). Since they have been consistently (except 12/6) delivering Broncos, I don't think the chips are the issue.

My money is still on:
1. There's a lot of room for human error in their tracking process. The fine folks at MAP are there to make Broncos, so scans can get missed.

2. There's a non-trivial effort placed on QA, which is delaying final shipment for some.

I am curious if any convoy folks in our build week were updated to Shipped prior to receiving their Broncos? I suspect the Rail folks are more accustomed to scanning stuff and the Ford software backfills data, but the truckers probably just want to hit the road.

Have you heard of dirt mountain? Search it on the forums, they were ones that got built to a certain point then they were put out to pasture till they could finish.

Yes, but those were being built knowingly missing chips because they just didnt have them or they were made with the bad hardtop and set aside until the updated hardtops were delivered to Ford....once they got new hardtops, they replaced those on the ones built months prior before putting them on new builds coming off the line....

Mine updated to “shipped” about four hours after Palsapp showed it as “dispatched.”

Awesome, so it could be a downstream scan or activaty that updates Ford. That tracks with how Rail seems to work.

And likewise, if that downstream scan was skipped, Ford would never update.

Call the 800 number. If your truck is shipped they should be able to give it to you.

I did yesterday and they said they didn’t have it and I should ask the dealer 🤷‍♀️
