I begrudgingly accept this. So many other lights are far superior in every way but weapon capability.
You can blind an attacker with a better smaller light and just get away. I carry other weapons for actually striking or making contact with a bad guy. Also as posted in the photos, the Maglite is on the left side of the seat which is most peoples off hand, I'd rather have mine crammed vertically between seat and center console.

Found a great location to mount a Maglight on the driver’s side seat rail

just be sure to use shorter screws so you don’t interfere with the seat rail operation

I did this on my 2018 Jeep JKU...but now I have rechargeable, smaller lights that I can charge in the truck. They are much brighter and I don't have to remember to replace the batteries every year (leakage).

A 21700 battery flashlight would be better. A more modern battery with more energy density.
But I can get dozens of free 18650s from old drill batteries and laptops!

Like others I frequently carry a Streamlight (1L-1AA), but I still have a 6 cell in my pickup. If you run a Maglite, large or small, I highly recommend checking out https://malkoffdevices.com/

This guy has been around a lot of years and developed some good drop-ins that will improve the light output and throw from a standard Maglite.

I'm a big flashaholic. I'll share a few pro tips with everyone here. Let me start by saying I go rechargeable all the way. Surefire, and many other high quality flashlights run on CR123 3v lithium batteries. If you have one that runs on two CR123 batteries, like someones Defender mentioned here earlier, use one 16650 battery instead. Same size, more mAh by a bunch, and rechargeable for years. If you have a flashlight that runs on three CR123, use two 14500 batteries. See photo below of an old U2 Ultra of mine, and the M3. Another great idea, many high quality older lights can be modified with modern emitters. Try Malkoff Devices or others. Malkoff has Maglite mods too. Thats whats pictured below on my old M3 and M4. That M4 is also bored out to fit two 18650 batteries instead of 4 CR123 batteries. But if you have a light that takes four CR123's then use two 16650 batteries. See a trend. Stop using CR123's, and modernize those great old lights! I look for old used Millenium Series lights, because you can’t beat the military anodizing on them. Best on any light ever made! I bought thet M3 new in like 2004 and it gets hard use and no damage to finish at all. Same with M4, although I bought that used online to modify. That M4 lights up a barn! and lasts for over two hours at full output, not thermal regulated. :) I built that M3 as a long throw beam light. Both are crenulated for defense. Have fun everyone.
