Anyone ever remove this panel under the rear crossbar near the rear speaker on a 4-door? I can’t seem to pull it off without feeling like it’s going to break. Wondering if there’s something else holding it in place. Mine is loose and won’t snap back in place so I’m trying to remove it to see if a clip is missing or broken.

Eesh. I am about to go remove that panel today, actually. I have to run a wire for a rear camera, and I think I have to run it through the sport bar. The camera needs to mount up top. If I find a secret, I shall report back.

@Theherofails - Are you going to post a write-up, including where you're concealing all your wires for your cameras?

Hope so! (No pressure)

Thats exactly what I did haha! I ran a wire through there by pulling it away a little, one clip snapped out while doing so, and now won’t snap back. I’m thinking my wire may be preventing it from snapping back all the way but need to pull it completely off to see the whole picture.

The 2 main metal clips are to the roll bar. You'll want to start prying from the outboard edge where the window was. Then there are two plastic hooks holding this panel onto the lateral trim piece. Also note that this panel is sandwiched underneath the forward trim (where it says AIRBAG), you'd want to undo the nearest bolt so that trim can flex out of the way a little.

Got it! Thanks! Just needed to know where all the clips were located. One of my metal clips was stuck in there making it harder to pull than it should be so I just gave it a yank and it came out.

Ok so I was able to pull the panel off. Turns out one of the metal clips was deformed so I bent it back in place and was able to snap the panel back and it fits tight again! No more gap! Thanks again @broncobuster2550. I feel much better 🤣 @Theherofails My issue is probably a one-off. Probably won’t be that hard for you.

That is indeed my plan. I think I just found the best solution for what I'm trying to do, and despite my thoughts in the previous thread, Im now convinced Blackvue will do it better.. Now I'm off to return a bunch of dash cam shit I dont need and pick up the new batch! I love this stuff, man.

Nothing makes me happier than a nice, clean and concealed wiring setup for something, lol.

Depending on your write-up (again, no pressure), you might convince me to upgrade to a newer Backvue with the rear camera... if it's not too difficult to conceal everything. Only issue on a soft top is it doesn't seem ideal to stick that on a plastic window. Hmm...

I put mine on the underside of the crossbar. Only place that made sense to me while still being centered.

Good idea - Hows the clarity through a wavy rear window?

Haven’t tested it yet. Just installed it last night and my top’s been down for a minute now. I should be able to test it out through the rear window later today though.

AS others have mentioned, remove/loosen the middle cover on the rollbar (it's just held in with clips, same as every other piece of trim in the vehicle, lol) and the corner pieces should come right out.

I know this is an old thread - but what did you use to attach the cam to that trim piece?

Every type of mounting tape I tried falls off in a few hours. Nothing seems to want to stick to that surface. I tried 3M, Scotch extreme, Gorilla tape and Loctite tape. I ended up sticking it to a small mending plate and screwing that into the panel. But I need to clean up the cable like you did and I assume you found something that sticks to achieve that neat wire routing.

Mine ended up falling too, but not after a few hours. More like a couple weeks. I replaced the mounting tape with 3M VHB tape. We’ll see how long that lasts.
