Buying local was so much easier. Not sure how Grainger expected this to go much differently honestly. They knew they would get so many allocated, no exact number I know, but still continued to pull in orders they knew they wouldn't get full filled any time soon.

Your post implies you may not understand how moving your order relates to your timing at your new dealer. Moving your order maintains your reservation date. So, if you moved to a dealer with, say, 20 orders, you might be order number 15 there. And if they have enough allocations you could definitely get yours this year.

There’s just no way to know without asking around, but you don’t go to the back of the new dealer’s line. You get slotted in where your reservation puts you, just like you’re slotted in at Granger.
Not sure it is easy to move your reservation or your order to another dealer - I think they were suggesting he place another order at another dealer ...

Maybe look at Autonation or Ken Graff? They have dealership all over.

I get that. The problem is people are walking into a dealership, no reservation, ordering and getting their vehicles or build date before any of us. And I can't stomach all the ADM and mark-up bullsh*t.
Yeah it’s bullshit, can’t transfer either. Was told to choose a dealer for myself and here I am maybe in the 2023 allocation for a 8/17/20 reservation. I truly mean this when I say it, Ford can go under and disappear for all I care.

From what little I've seen about people trying it and posting here has been unsuccessful, but I will admit to no first hand knowledge ... do you know of a specific case and/or more than case where someone has a reservation and/or an order and was able to switch?

Keep your res there and just buy something else until it comes in. No sense sitting and just waiting on it, have fun with something else, trade it when bronco comes in.

Or just place an order up here in Ohio, plenty dealers at msrp.
I also suspect Ford is going to try to clear all orders out in the next year so they can just focus on allocation.

Hang in there, it'll be fine

Ford changed the allocation formulas. They were originally based on how many Broncos were ordered. Granger got a pretty good 2021 allocation. They would have had plenty of allocation for 2022 to fill most orders, but Ford changed it to something completely different. They even gave people better deals to move to certain dates, "oct special", to get earlier reservation holders taken care of better. They are now trying to figure out how to increase allocations by offering specials on Bronco sports. This is all on Ford.

To the OP....Good luck. With a reservation date that late, you are almost better off just cancelling and placing an order at a dealership that has plenty of allocations that will commit to msrp. Or I like your other idea about buying an old Bronco and fixing it up. With the kind of money we are spending a coyote would be a lot of fun to drop into an old Bronco.

Late Wildtrak reservation at a small dealer. "Not acceptable." :p

I dropped my BL down to a BD with the upgraded wheels and ended up receiving mine a couple months ago. Simply took it to the tire shop after I picked it up, and got the bigger tires I wanted.

I get it Ford broke a lot of promises. If these few dealers that tried to work the system couldn’t see the risk they were taking then they were either ignorant or incompetent. Neither is good.
They also knew they had nothing to lose. That was always all on the order holder.

Reservations are pretty easy to get transferred, however, once they were turned into an order for 2021 or 2022, you are not able to transfer them, at least nobody has claimed they have successfully gotten Ford to facilitate it, matching your understanding of the order situation. The problem here is people are confusing reservations with orders. (gives the confusion on transferring and the confusion of the 500 plus days of waiting since 'ordering'.)

Ford is cranking the door shut on reservations and making them less valuable as time goes on to nudge people who keep reservations out. Eventually they will just outright cancel any remaining ones and blame the consumer for not having them placed at the 'proper' dealer.
