I think I can survive the wait, but not sure my wallet or my Explorer can. About 6 months ago, I put $2,000 into a new power distribution module. Today one of my turbos failed. Replacing that and two catalytic converters is going to cost me another $3,700. I can’t NOT make the repairs, because the truck is worth like $15k in trade. But man, it really sucks sinking money into this thing when I am less than 3 weeks from my build date. Any one else struggling to make it with their existing ride?

2010 Xterra Off Road with 160k miles and survivor of 2 teenage drivers, fine in the city but has busted last two trips across State lines. Have a 1/3 build date and hoping I don’t have to put any more $ in it in the meantime.

Sell it as is to your dealer and rent a car. You’ll come out ahead unless your bronco takes 6 months.

Totalled my F150 in December of 2019 when I was TBoned. I was lucky enough to survive with no major injuries after being rolled twice. I held off buying a vehicle to wait on the Bronco, thinking it would only be 8 to 9 months. The wife has an acadia, my daughter has a sedan, and my parents have a 97 TJ they were gracious enough to lend me in a pinch. I have 3 daughters, so always running somewhere. I am a day 4 reservation holder with no build date or even a glimpse of one yet since I have all the deadly sins on order. Dont know how much longer I can hold off the wife and supporting cast. I definitely do not want to purchase a stopgap vehicle, but might have to if I dont get an email from Ford soon.

TLDR: fell your pain

Luckily I'm good with my other vehicles. I've been through the four stages of grief, and I'm almost done with waiting on my Bronco. With Ford giving me the high hard one with their '22 allocation formula I'm nearly over the Bronco. Good luck OP, I hope you can things worked out.

Sucks. My car was just totaled and now I had to change my order to get it a little sooner. No idea when that will be, but I’m carpooling now with my wife.

being stuck at home during the pandemic didn’t strain our marriage, but her patience with the radio might:LOL::ROFLMAO:

all kidding aside, if you’re 3-weeks away, you may want to talk with the dealer because if they fix it, they may be understanding of the work performed prior to the trade in, because if it’s busted, they’ll dock you value from the trade in, anyway.

on the opposite side of the spectrum; Have three vehicles currently, all in perfect working order, the Bronco toy is not expected for years due to Ford deciding to not take the number of reservations holders at a dealer into account when determining allocations. I am so far out that the steer my victory steak will be chopped from is still a gleam in his daddy's eye.

Having said that, I will be cross shopping the new 4runner, the Jeep Grand Cherokee when Jeep gets their straight six engine (the Pentastar is weak sauce and the hemi block has the oiling problems on the cam, I refuse to ride on the 345/392 ticking time bomb).

Will I get one of those? Who knows... Ford choosing to not keep their word on the reservations has lost them a 'for sure' sale and made it a maybe one. I keep the order because it costs me nothing, might be a good deal when it does arrive, but it gives me a chance to look at the competition (for my use) for the next couple years. If Ford keeps up with their price protections (not much chance they will in my opinion), it might be a really good deal and I will pick it up regardless of if I buy something else in the interim.

Can I ask how many miles are on your Explorer? That seems like a lot of problems on a 6 year old car. My current cars (a Toyota and Honda) are older and haven't spent a dime other than routine maintentance. These Ford issues are scaring me.

We were shopping for a Wrangler when we reserved the Bronco. I talked my wife into waiting and giving the Bronco a shot because I thought it would be better….. Here we are over 500 days later without even a build date. I work from home, so she is currently daily driving my King Ranch. We don’t want to put any more money into her 2008 Focus she has had since she started college (she is a doctor now lol). Already put 5 new tires on it (pothole) and a new battery in it this year.

My 2 vehicles are 18 and 34 years old. They aren't bad 2nd/3rd cars, but depending on them for daily commuting does drive up the chances of costly repairs.

I didn't even have either of them up til a few months ago, they were bought to be a stop gap because I sold my main car too early based on my first build date.

I did a lot of driving early on (long commute) so I have 115k on it. It was relatively problem free until these issues popped up in the last 6 months.

Bought a 2019 Tacoma in December last year when I realized it would be a long wait. Knew I could buy it and sell for what I bought for. Got hit by a red light runner a week and a 1/2 ago.

Now about to buy *another* car to get me by, I want to quit this and order the Rubicon I was about to order when the Bronco was announced.

In the same boat. Swapped my RS for a GT350 expecting to have my Bronco for the winter. The RS is one of the best winter cars out there and I really miss it right now as the Shelby sits uselessly in the garage (First world problems, I know)

I'm limping my old 6.0 along, desperately trying to make it until the Bronco shows up. Just spent over 7 grand on the transmission, only to now have what I suspect is an issue with the high pressure oil system, getting worse by the day as my Bronco sits in a railyard for weeks on end with no explanation.
