It wouldn’t hurt to let them see if they can replicate it honestly. That way they can submit it up to Ford for a fix and it’ll give them a data point to reference for investigation. Though I don’t know timeframe of how long they’d keep your Bronco and I’d understand not wanting to be a Guinea pig
I brought mine in and they confidently told me it was my alternator, which is on back order. I seriously doubt it’s my alternator because the faulty wipers operate in a consistent manner. They might have identified a different problem though as my gauge can fluctuate from in around 11.3 up to 15.3. I doubt that’s how it’s supposed to function.

Same happens to my 23 Badlands, lux, etc. 18-22 sweeps on low, goes to intermittent. Almost 67 years old, have driven / owed cars from most makes and models, never had this happen, This system is dangerous. The ssm form Ford is why I need a catalytic converter for my a$$ to stop the smoke Ford clouding over the issue... remember the Pinto...

This issue is most certainly going to get someone killed. I actually don’t blame Ford, mistakes happen, I blame the NHTSA for not doing their job.

The other day, it was raining hard driving on the freeway and I decided to grab my coffee with my right hand. At that same moment my wipers stopped completely and I had zero visibility. I had to physically remove my left hand (both hands) from the wheel in order to turn the wipers back on without spilling my hot coffee in my right hand. Luckily I was driving in a straight line. If I was driving around a corner I’d have hot coffee all over myself.

OK, freezing rain here in Michigan Today. Here’s what happened and it has happened three times consistently. My drive is around 36 miles. Wipers doing the intermittent thing and I have to keep manually changing the wiper settings to keep them on until about 16 miles into the drive then they stay on. This has happened all three times it rained during my whole drive.

OK. We did that once already but I’m happy to offer whatever I can to help. Somebody is going to get seriously hurt eventually with wipers malfunctioning like this.

‘23 Wildtrak with ~400 miles on it. Having the same issue.

First time it happened thought it was user error. Happened again today in a heavy rain and I couldn’t see out of the windshield.

Definitely an issue here.

I had this issue today as well. I had to keep fiddling with the wiper control to get them to stay on low in a freezing rain situation.

I’ve had other cars with rain sensing technology and it worked fine.

This has the potential to be life threatening in my less than a month old Bronco.

Everyone who hasn’t- please report it on the NHTSA site. There’s a link in this thread. Unless we put real pressure on Ford to fix it, they’ll keep considering them “ smart wipers”.

When I first read some of the issues I did not even know about Smart Wiper. It's not mentioned in the owners manual as such. From page 100 in the owners manual -
The vehicle is equipped with protection features to prevent damage to the wiper motor in case of overheating, usage on dry windshields or obstructions to the wiper blade due to snow or ice accumulation on the windshield.
In such conditions the wiper motor may restrict it's speed, reduce area of cleaning or completely stop operation.

I experienced the "completely stop operation" today just minutes into my morning commute at 55mph during a heavy downpour, traffic with headlights coming at me in the dark of early morning. That was scary to say the least, I had quickly reached up to put the wiper control to full speed, it turned back on, but within seconds stopped again. I drove the next 20 minutes constantly rotating the control dial from full off to high speed to keep the wipers moving. Never have I ever in 50 years of driving had my wipers STOP working. Ford's better idea is dangerous and potentially deadly, not just for the driver but those around and approaching you. I've spent time with those who have the manual transmission noise, I have the MT, but no noise, yet. Some have described it as dangerous, HA, this issue has the definition of dangerous beat by a long shot. I've owned my New '23 Badlands 2 Dr for two weeks, 1,200 miles, absolutely love it, I can live with issues, bugs, glitches whatever you want to call them, but this is beyond reproach. Someone will get hurt, or hurt another. If this has been going on for some time, how can Ford not take this seriously? If replacing the motor is the fix, how can one manufactured Jan 12 '23 have one of the bad motors, have they not determined within the supply chain the batch of bad motors out there and taken them out of the cycle? Come on Ford, this is shameful and uncalled for. I pray no one gets injured due to negligence in this matter. WHAT IS THE FIX AND WHY IS THIS NOT A PRIORITY?

Correct - a little more than 10 years ago, we had a Lincoln MSK with "rain sensing wipers" and they worked great! These are a death trap and with the amount of documented complaints here, Ford is going to be sued big time!

I did this received a case number crickets. Was advised to see a dealer. I want a solution before letting the dealer start taking pieces off my new Bronco. This is getting ridiculous.
