I remain in the same boat as you. 4Dr OBX soft top and no parts mentioned as hold up. @flip confirmed it was built but total silence ever since. Each morning I debate whether to check my email to see if the Built/Shipped notice is sitting in there - no luck. While my dealer says they are showing expected delivery early August I am not very confident in that since the norm seems to be that the tracker updates at some point.

The lack of info is worrying now. Since I have no constraining parts and I see delivered messages on the forum everyday for reasonably similar builds - I am concerned that my build was somehow messed up and something needs to be fixed. If Ford is considering moving to a build to order system they had better figure out how to communicate with the order holder better.
I couldn’t agree more!

wirh all the technology out there, place a damn bar code on the vehicle where it gets scanned throughout the build- QC- shipping process
That information gets loaded on this so called tracker keeping the consumer aware of where there rig is in the process

this doesn’t seem to hard to me.
My guess is two things for guys like us- one like you said there are issues with our build and they are sitting in QC, or they are awaiting shipping details ...

Either way send a quick message to the dealer or customer letting them know the potential hang ups.

like I said this makes Ford look inept and questions whether I should smartly place 55k on one their vehicles

I think this is really what it boils down to. Ford is having to figure out how to do customer relations on orders. Before recently, special orders like this were really the exception to the rule since people just drove to the car lot, picked out a car they liked, and then bought it. I'm extremely picky. I've asked to custom order before to get just what I want and the dealerships always asked, "Can I see if we can find that somewhere nearby and dealer transfer it?"

The special order has been the exception up to this point.

Also, Ford is in the 100 year old mindset of not communicating. It's like ordering from the Sears catalog when I was a kid. You mail in an order and wait until a big box shows up on your front porch.

Ford just has to eventually put two and two together and figure out this is how business works in the modern era. I order a MacBook Pro and I can see when it leaves China, when it hits customs, and when it is handed off to the delivery guy.

A lot of old businesses will resist transitioning to this model due to a couple of reasons.

1. If I open up my ERP database to share information, does that increase my risk of production downtime due to the potential for hacking? Addendum: What is the cost/benefit of moving to a model that supports this from a pure business perspective?

2. Do I really want to show my customers how the sausage is made?

1 is a legitimate concern and that has to be planned for and properly executed. It's expensive to do, too, and there's no real tangible return on that cost. It's more a "making customers happy" sort of thing. Developing these applications is just not easy and it's cost prohibitive to have a bunch of employees sitting around doing copy pasta to e-mail or some other mechanism. Ford will eventually get there, but frankly, businesses aren't spending a lot on the IT infrastructure to do these things right now because of the financial outlook for the economy at large.

2 is more silly in this day and age with a relatively educated customer base.

I'm used to public sector customers making some of the same moves and that first giant leap is generally also a giant headache. :)

tl:dr Ford has the information you seek in their ERP database. I guarantee it. What they don't have is a mechanism to make that available to customers yet. They have to find the value in doing so and have to get over the hurdles of fear, uncertainty and doubt about moving to a customer centric model.

Ah yes, another day of absolutely no updates. My 7/19 build had a delivery ETA of 8/1 before Ford snatched all of our ETAs away. Just sitting in "In Production" purgatory still...36 miles from home...

We should start a support group. I’m a 7/16 build and same for me with what would call a perfect build to get it ASAP.

I feel your pain

I'm thinking a small tactical group!

That would be flat out cruel lol.

I don't know how that would efficiently or logistically work, so I'd like to think we're safe. But I don't think any mitigation methods are off limit aside from scrapping the whole MAP site and starting over...And that might not even be off the table.

Same boat... blend was 7/22, mods update 7/23, dealer confirmed status as built. Have not received a built email and pizza tracker still shows in production. I assume my MIC top isn't up to spec...

Did your dealer mention anything about it being shipped yet?
He's had no updates, either, which is disconcerting since I'm a soft top!! C'mon. This lack of communication from Ford is off the charts Biblical proportions horrible. Unacceptable in a day when EVERYTHING can be communicated immediately. So frustrating, and then I look at the spreadsheet for our week and go...oh,....so many others in Quarantine aka QC or whatever....

Same...
I have a soft top also...
It’s super frustrating. Depending how long this plays out I might start looking for another vehicle... Ford and their archaic ways of doing business will lose tons of customers...

the longer we sit in production jail the more I think there is something wrong with my build and how bad do I want this bronco..... 🧐
