Where have all the Broncos gone?

Looking at monthly Ford‘s Bronco sales, production and gross stock report on another thread, I’ve noticed production almost always exceeds sales, which would imply a huge inventory over time.

I totaled their sales and production since inception and there should be ~37,300 Broncos in Ford’s inventory (Cumulative production of 127,185 less cumulative sales of 89865 through June 2022). Ford reported 15300 units in Gross stock.

That implies that 22,000 Broncos are “missing”. I don’t know a lot in this simple analysis, but I’m assuming Ford is posting accurate sales/production data and gross stocks. if so, there are 22,000 produced but unaccounted for Broncos.

Im assuming gross stocks includes all finished Broncos awaiting shipment or in transit. Heck, 15,300 broncos is about a month of and a half of average sales. So what’s the 22,000? Dirt Mountain? i sure hope there aren’t that many and if it is Dirt Mountain is getting bigger every month, not smaller.

there’s probably a good explanation for this, but I doubt Ford would explain it, so I just have to wonder.

FYI. Only one month since inception has sales exceeded production. Thats amazing.

Good catch, the report says US sales. so I’m missing CA and MX (I guess) and production is all in the US. I’ll go looking for those numbers and see how that fills the gap….. thanks

Wouldn't suprise me at all if there are 22K that are either on dirt mountain, in railyards (where they seem to sit for several weeks to a month on average), awaiting convoy shipping, and sitting at dealerships waiting for a windshield recall. If anything if you add all those factors up in the "unsold" category seems like it should be more.

It was communicated to us (least while I was at OR-Moab) that the company that runs them bought the broncos

So I got the Canada and Mexico sales figures through q1 2022. 5979 and 1374 respectively. Total of 7353 Broncos sold. There are no other global sales other than re-export of local sales. Figure max of 2647 (very generous) sales in Q2 2022, that accounts for 10,000 Broncos.

Ruling out Bronco Rodeo (US Sale), demolished (can’t be more than a couple hundred, in-transit (should be included in gross stock), mannequins (most were sold by dealers already), if leaves upwards of 10-12,000 unaccounted for.

Dirt mountain… or a lot more miscellaneous Broncos out there than can imagine.

Let me know if you see a bunch of Braptors sitting up on cinder blocks. Ha ha. There’s rumored to be a wheel constraint and there seems to be a growing number of them “in production”.
