exactly, parking garages always worry me. The antenna will atleast provide some sense of security from hitting anything.

The shark fin is for satellite radio and the likes, not AM/FM. The reason Bronco still has one is that it doesn't have permanent glass that the antenna could be built into.

Yeah, most new cars have antennas in the rear quarter or back glass for AM/FM. Wranglers and Broncos don't have permanent rear glass. I show people all the time, and they never noticed the antennas in their rear glass.
