triangular screw won’t fasten

good morning

I’m not the most hands-on person, so I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question. when I took off the roof rack initially, I accidentally loosened out the whole trangular screw. now when I try to screw it back in, only about a quarter will actually screw in, leaving the roof-rack still pretty loose. any suggestions?

Try backing it back out and see what the threads look like. Then if need to, lube the threads and re-insert.
