So shopping the local marketplace for a used soft top, so I have something to throw in during our summer months since it rains so sporadically, or when we go down to the beach so I can have a roof during the 2-3 hour drive through the city. and the toss it back once down there.

For those who have experience with this soft top what would you be looking out for if buying one used? What would make you avoid buying a particular top?

If I were looking at used tops I’d look for one still on the factory pallet that was never used. I’ve seen several here listed by dual top buyers for really good prices

If it’s a used one I’d look for a late MY23 and up. My Job 2 2023 top had raised seam rain gutters that the earlier tops didn’t have….and they actually kind of worked.

These tops are not like old school Jeep tops that one guy could easily throw on the old TJ. They are pretty heavy. It’s a 2 person job without some kind of snappy hoist system.

The 2nd gen soft tops had a stitched in seam along the side that was supposed to act as a rain gutter. OG soft tops do not have this detail. A few other items to note:
- look on the underside (inside) seams and confirm they are all holding tight.
- confirm all the clips at the top of the plastic windows are intact.
- check the rear corners to confirm the clips aren’t damaged and the seams aren’t pulled out.
Good luck!

I agree with all above, plus find the soft top thread that lists all the parts. You need them all, some come attached to the Bronco even if the hard top is on it.
Lots of threads about this.
I bought mine second hand new from a dual top owner, which is the way to go if you can.

Also keep in mind Ford sells 2 different soft tops, the OEM and the Twill which is Bestop - know which one you want, and how to tell them apart, because a lot of people who bought both tops and are looking to sell don' t know the difference. I had to be very careful explaining and asking for pictures from people selling to make sure I got the one I wanted.
