My family and I spent yesterday looking at overland campers. We have a Class A RV currently and have had everything from pop-ups to bumper pulls to Class C's. But I don't have any experience with Taxa, Mission and the like.

My wife and I were highly impressed with the build quality of the Taxa Mantis/Cricket. With 3 kids, one of those models with a rooftop tent would do the trick I think.

What are people's experiences with these? Anybody pulled them with a Bronco, especially the Mantis Overland edition?

A related topic: I am considering getting the OME heavy series suspension upgrade. I have a feeling this would aid towing. Thoughts?

I'm a TAXA dealer and an overland camper for 30 plus years. I've pulled both the Cricket and Mantis with my 22 4dr Badlands with 2.7L. They both pull well with my Bronco, but the Mantis will get over the recommended gross weight of the Bronco pretty quick(if you care).
I've pulled Crickets a lot through the years over some really rough terrain and have never had a problem. I personally would stay away from the "Overland" Version of each.....they are way overpriced for what you get. I do lift mine a couple of inches and run a heavy 8ply tire in a 10.50/ 31 15.

This is interesting... Thanks for the info! It's certainly helpful that you say don't get the overland package. That adds weight and definitely price, so leaving it off is certainly a benefit.
