I used to have cable reinforced padded straps, they worked great. I suppose it depends on how frequently boards get stolen in your area though. I would think a 6' short board would fit, it would be kind of cool if I could fit most of my 9'6" long board in there so I could go topless lol

Theres also a lock that clamps around the tail in front or the fins like a bike lock it has a cable that goes around the racks.
