I have a question, I picked up my hardtop Badlands in March 23 and one of the first things that I wanted to purchase was a BestTop for use only during the ‘warmer’ months ( I’m in NJ).
Fast forward, since I wasn’t sure which way to go (Sunrider vs. Skyrider) I haven’t make this purchase, yet. Do you have to remove any of the BestTop hardware in order to reinstall the drive and passenger hardtop roof panels? I’m pretty sure that if you get the Skyrider model, the BestTop hardware has to be removed in order to reinstall the 3 ( driver, passenger and back row) hardtop roof panels. Please let me know your thoughts and thank you.

Yes you do have to remove the Sunrider/Skyrider hardware to install the hardtop roof panels.

Thank you for the reply. That’s what I was thinking and that’s a PITA. I’ll probably just continue to take the front two panels, on and off, until that becomes a bigger PITA.

Head to YouTube and view the Bestop install video on the Skyrider. The skyrider is NOT a pain in the ass. Once installed in the spring….you have the best of both worlds …..hardtop /softop…..you only need remove a couple (maybe 2) bolts and a bracket to convert back to full hardtop in the fall. I take Skyrider right through the carwash daily with no issue. Very quiet as well.

Just remember…….if you just accidentally drop one panel and ruin it ….the cost of the skyrider would be non-issue….

I can't speak for the Skyrider but I've had a Sunrider for 2 years and I take it off for winter and put it back on in the spring, takes like 15 minutes, not a PITA at all.

Thoughts on pros and cons between the sunrider and skyrider? Is the skyrider more difficult to open and close, compared to the ease of opening and closing the sunrider while sitting in drivers seat?

You definitely cannot open the Skyrider while seated in the front seat. You have to climb around a bit, but it only takes 20 seconds or so to open. No complaints at all.

Also question for the masses. Has anyone had any issues with their Bestop arms/hinges?? I somehow managed to break mine during install.

Bestop did replace it under warranty, so huge props there. And I LOVE the product overall, but.... uhh.... yeah... leaves me concerned about long-term durability.

Thank you for letting us know....I bought both tops but the soft top is a PITA to remove due to the weight and the hoist over the spare tire/stop light. The skyrider looks like a great move!

Made a diy hoist to remove the soft top, and bought a canvas top so I could leave it off for the summer

Still torn between the sun rider and skyrider. Love the simplicity (and lower price) of the sunrider, but the larger skybox of the skyrider
