Steel bender - Flat Pass Questions

I did Steelbender Loop on a recent trip to Moab. Would like to do Flat Pass on the next trip. I have several questions regarding that section for you Moab experts. First, when entering Flat Pass (on the north end) from the loop, does one go up or down the obstacle onX calls “The Fall”. Second, is the trail even open thru this area? Or said another way, can I enter Flat Pass from the loop and drive it north to south ultimately ending up on Highway 191? What is the recommended direction of travel?
