Soft top off rear cover installed

Loving the rear cover with soft top removed I’ve had the cover for months and have been wanting too install it. Also had the rubber cover carpet protector it looks and fits amaxing.

Is it required to have the straps around the swing gate? I really want something like this to cover the back from sun, debris, eyes looking etc. but dont really want to add straps to the swing gate
