I was considering adding a self adjusting bridle setup to my recovery gear, as it seems like it would split the force seen by the Badlands capable bumper recover points. I found this video on Youtube which provides technical calculations for the forward and lateral forces seen by the recovery points depending on the length of the bridle rope/strap and the angle of the pulling force. It comes down to basic trig (F*sin(x) or F*cos(x)) and resolving the rope/strap force into orthogonal vectors. Not sure how many folks use a bridle setup if getting pulled out of a "stuck" situation, still, for anyone who does, here is the link:
It's surprising how much sideways force is generated. Also the same calculations can be used for forward and sideways forces when a single recovery point is used at an angle.
