Rotopax On Spare Tire

How are you folks attaching your Rotopax to the spare tire? Ive watched as few videos of go4x4 and like his setup how he rotates the Rotopax to get water he needs for his dog or for cooking or making coffee. I like the Overland Kitted version and might go that way.

Also, any other options for the spout and valve for the Rotopax with water in it. Similar to the Dometic.

Check out these guys, they make a bunch of accessories for rotopax both fuel and water. If you’re getting a fuel can I very much recommend their upgrades as the stock nozzle spills fuel everywhere.
Also for the rotopax mount, don’t buy the locking mount. They are notorious for rusting and needing to be drilled out, especially when you need it.

I just did a trip mounting Roto packs to my spare with the below equipment to the dollhouse last spring. I found it worked pretty good.

Dlx Pack Mount (RX-DLX-PM) - 2

That said there are a couple considerations that surfaced for me:

1. Price and expense: getting bigger Roto packs or supporting your tailgate to hold more gear is actually pretty damn expensive. it’s so much cheaper just to throw a can in the backseat.
2. I used all the Roto packs gas on the spare and in the extra 5 gallon as soon as I possibly could on my trip. This took the weight off my spare, which I was happy to do after watching everything whip around on a tough trail. I also had my windows open for fumes. So I guess that’s a good reason to put stuff on back.
3. The whole entire Roto packs rig fell off the back of my spare tire (!) and dented my rear door on severe washboard without airing down. I recommend your ear down if you’re gonna do this. It fix the vibration problem. And tighten the heck out of the strap + watch the strap tightness given air pressure changes from elevation and temperature.
