build to order is just PR spin for stock analysts by upper management to try to spin the fact that 2021, 2022, and possibly 2023 sales numbers will be suppressed because Ford royally screwed up and lost their spot in line at major chip manufacturers.

I got a reservation to buy a Bronco, then couldn't decide color. By the time I did they had pretty much nixed the 2 door WT, so whats the point of putting in my order if I'm not getting what I wont. I'm not changing to a 4 door just to say I have a Bronco. I'll wait isn't going anywhere.
I'm not anxious to see that happen. I only order if my dealer doesn't have exactly what I want in stock. Part of the experience is looking at the choices and enjoying the new car smell. Then pick what I want and a few hours later, it's in my garage. If they took this away, I'd likely buy less frequently.
Code 99 does not indicate that an order was not placed. No code at all indicates an order not placed. 99 just means that the order is not buildable. And, code 10 is an extremely high priority. Higher than allowed for a non-volume customer. Either you have some serious pull at your dealership which allowed you to move through the line or your dealer loves you in a very special way. Code 10 is an exception to the norm.

I never understood how you can have both an allocation and timestamp system of filling orders. It seems like it should be one or the other. If Ford is really going to limit the number of orders through a dealership, I may not see my Grangtober for 8 to 10 years even though Ford may be able to satisfy all reservations next year.
it seems pointless to take any more reservations when they'll end up carrying 80k plus 21's over to 22's. Plus however many have already ordered a 22. The 22 calendar has to be pretty full.
