Longtime lurker, new member, KRAKEN…

Soon to take delivery of KRAKEN… my 2023 2 door, 2.7, Black Diamond, Scratchcrotch, Azure Gray metallic tri-coat Bronco. Modifications will be pretty minimal compared to some of you and will be along the lines of an old-school look. Not retro, but retro inspired…

This forum is a wealth of info with members willing to share, however there is so much content it becomes hard to remember exactly where you saw that little tidbit of information you found that might be useful. I will outline my current plans with potential options. If you have any of the products mentioned, I encourage you to comment to aid in my decision making. Sharing photos of your stuff is always good. Once the ball gets rolling I will start a KRAKEN “build thread”.

EXTERIOR:

FRONT: I’m not going to put a winch on KRAKEN… at least for now. I want a Bull Bar, but it must be low and not cover the BRONCO letters on the grill.

Options are:
  • Keep the “capable” bumper and add a low bull bar hoop/light bar
  • Replace the factory bumper with a non-winch aftermarket bumper; currently leaning toward the Havoc Bender… also in the running are Fab Fours Vengeance with hoop, Icon Vechicle Dynamics (add some hoop), Barricade Tubular
SIDES: Remove factory rock rails, rattle can bed liner on the pinch welds, install aftermarket rock rails/sliders. Looking at Goat Fab, ZROADZ, Havoc, Fab Fours… any photos of these on your ride would be appreciated. Already have some front mud/gravel flaps on order…

REAR: Keep the rear bumper for now… would like to have a swing out tire mount bumper at some point, but it must have an integrated license plate/light… not tire mount plate and no bracket mount.
Possibly a Tailgate Reinforcement plate: is it necessary? I have not really researched this yet, any brands other than Rough Country I should look at?

LIGHTING: I may put a light bar up top with round rally style lights. Round lights on the front bumper. I would like to keep all (or most) lights round to hold the “old school” look. May have a couple of fog light square pods? Also add some additional backup lights.

APPEARANCE: Bronco script side badges are a must… best place to get these?
I may install some graphics… hood bump & maybe stripes???

INTERIOR: Stickerfab aux switch labels and metal start button surround on order.
Maybe some Wet Okole neoprene seat covers for the front seats… probably do a Rear Seat delete.

…stay tuned for news, KRAKEN out.

Nice Bronco. I LMAO at the title. my son has a friend since kindergarten that would announce he has to release the Kraken when we needed to go to the bathroom and planned on being in there a while if you get my meaning.

If you keep the factory modular bumper, I would recommend the JCR bull bar, it's American made and also sits a little lower than the Ford one, meaning it doesn't protrude into the "Bronco" lettering, can't believe Ford couldn't get that right. I have a similar viewpoint as you, I have done minimal "noticeable" changes, as it still looks stock. But after about 9+ months of ownership, a Sherpa winch is going up front. I don't always wheel with the buddy system, so I need to have an "on-board" buddy if I get in trouble. I held out a while, but finally caved in😂 https://www.jcroffroad.com/product/BR6SB-J.html

I’m trying to determine how much this would interfere with the front camera view on my Wildtrak. Guessing that’s why Ford has a taller bull bar, but I agree that I’ve always thought it was odd blocking the BRONCO lettering on the grill.

Added lights since the bull bar but here is what I got. I ordered first the sticker fab bull bar. Can not mount lights to this bar. You can to the IAG.

Then I wanted to add more lights so I sold it.

Also added images of the Goat Fab sliders.

Yes, I cheaped out and got a bare bones Badlands, no extra fancy stuff on mine, never thought of that, it could very well interfere with the camera.

Nice Bronco! I 100% suggest going to Diode Dynamics for your lights. Their quality and service are unmatched.
