Raccoons and rodents invaded my Bronco engine compartment while I was laid up recovering from knee surgery. One day my son started the Bronco, and a raccoon climbed down and out, got it's hair caught in the serpentine belt, pulled out all over. Still didn't stop them from coming back.
The mice chewed up the foam inside the plastic cover on the top/back of the 2.3L engine (fuel pump cover I think). They made a nest in there.
The raccoons mainly slimed and messed up some pipe insulation. No wiring was damage fortunately. Now every night I lay a blinding bright motion activated 4 foot long light on top of the engine. No returning critters since doing this, but it's a pain having to do this everyday.
Pretty sure this is not restricted to Ford, and is the entire automotive industry. And the entire automotive industry is NOT going to recall every car on the road and rewire them lol
