So, I previously posted that sometimes when I remote start, the Rear Defrost is On and sometimes not when I get in.

So, this morning was a little more brisk with some frost on the ground. The Rear Defrost was on. But after 1 hour of driving, turning off bronco for 10 minutes, remote start and No, not on.

Someone suggested it was related to settings in the head unit, however I could not find specifics to the Rear Defrost and I did not make any changes to remote start settings.

Can anyone confirm that it has a sensor for when to turn itself on during remote start ?

Thanks in advance

There is no sensor. It's on a timer for how low it stays on. Yes, there is a setting it you want to the rear defrost, heated seats, heated wheel, and the HVAC to run when remotely started. Hit the owners manual.

Ok, So now I'm thinking it's based on Cabin Temp. Factory setting is 72 deg. So, when I first start it, the inside cabin temp is say 40-50 degrees. Rear Defrost ON.

AFTER Driving a bit and the Cabin temp is now 78 deg, the Defrost won't turn on Automatically.

This is based on this:

i thought the quote from the owners manual in your previous thread explained when the rear defrost does and does not turn on with remote start. Looked clear to me, based on exterior temperature whether there was a need for it or not.

I cannot believe however that it would stay on for an hour. 15 minutes max if it in a timer and not a sensor.

So if yours is still on after an hour then yeah you have a problem. While waiting for your dealer to give you an appointment sometime next year (try to get just a state inspection inside of 6 weeks) Find the fused circuit for the rear defrost and hot wire one of your aux switches into it so that rear defrost only works when you flip the switch
